Why did you buy a Corvette?
 

I bought mine because I am an old fart who always wanted one!!
Will I ever race it - probably not
Will I add expensive HP increase mods?- Nope not in this lifetime!
I know a lot of you youngsters like to race, add stuff but that can get expensive!! I am also a bit of a cheapskate!!
Not my daily driver BUT I do like to drive it!! I put a whopping 4500 miles on it the first year i had it!!
I do like to read about all the stuff you guys(and gals) do to your car! I did add a Billy Boat exhaust to add a little more sound!!! my only mod!!

Same here. Wanted one, bought one. Not into mods.

Light weight, a lot of grip, a lot of power, a lot of performance for the dollar.

Yea, I did always want a Corvette since I was a kid and built models of them, but that's why. It's a two seat hotrod that can keep up with much more expensive cars in a corner.

Loved Corvette the instant my eyes saw one, that was during the C2.
Bought a C3 the moment I could, was 18.
Aside from my military stint have been driving a Corvette ever since.

Mods?
My '69 was built to the hilt, but all others bone stock.
Drive an '08 Z06 these days, owned it since new, nearly 10 years.
IMO this car didn't need any more juice than it already has. :cheers:

Seriously, though, I worked at a Corvette specialty body shop when I was 16. A few days after I started working there the owner tossed me the keys to a blown 67 that had been painted the week before, and told me to drive it around the block a few times to blow the dust off. We'd used what was then an industry-changing two stage paint of base and clear called Imron. The first gen of this was very soft after painting, and took some time to harden, so it could scratch badly if wiped with dust on it.

That's all it took to get me hooked. Talk about a fun ride. :woohoo:

I agree with you completely. I have put 7,000 miles on it in the first 10 months. I'm enjoying it even more than I ever thought I would.

Had a nice C2 when I was in my early 20s, then sold it to pay for tuition. Loved the car then, and 48 years later or so, got my GS, and I'm not disappointed. It's going to get a ZR1 style splitter soon, painted door handles, and maybe a DeWitts rad with EOC. For my needs, it's got enough HP. Looks great, sounds great, handles great. All it needs is to be driven.

Sold my sport bike and couldn't not have a go fast vehicle in garage. It's not my DD. I planned on leaving it stock when I purchased it last year then got bit by the mod bug. It's a Z06 so I had to fix the obvious head issue. Once the heads were fixed, Arkrapovic Evo exhaust, B&B headers, K&N CAI, skip shift eliminator, custom NPP switch, ZR1 splitter and side skirts, Camaro hood vent and now about to add side vents to hood this weekend.

I've had them since the 80's and they always make me happy!

Hmmm... According to my Dad when I was 9 - 10 years old I had more Corvette pics and magazines in my room that baseball cards. Dad always had wagons but he always had me in the garage with him. Get me this, get me that, you know, apprentice mechanic!!

Then I was 16, naturally couldn't afford one. 65 Impala SS, 69 Camaro, 70 GTO, 74 GTO, 78 TA, 71 Buick GS...

Then I stumbled upon this forum and started reading. Being an engineer, I was like a sponge. Had that 71 Buick for 16 years and was active in the Buick community. Posted something one day and a few guys read between the lines. Are you looking to sell it???

The rest is history. Five years ago found my C5 with 1,968 miles. Now it's 7,434 and now we're considering a C6 vert. :thumbs:

I was always into muscle cars, then camaro's but a good friend bought a C4 a couple years ago. It opened my eyes to how affordable a vette could be, soon the search was on and now I can't believe what I was missing out on for so long. Love the vette and plan to always have one, I drive mine daily weather permitting and will probably put 10K a year or so on it. The wife has a 5th gen 2ss/rs camaro and compared to driving the corvette that thing is soft and cushy although still fun to drive for sure.

The first time I drove a Vette was when I was about 19. My aunt and uncle had a couple and they would throw me the keys, so that started the bug. Beyond that, when I got serious about a hobby car at age 40, I had many cars on my list, but a big issue was parts availability or car availability. What I found was old Vettes are everywhere in every color, and option, etc. The next thing I found was there were more parts available than most any other car. I found some real deals in Vettes; cheaper than old Chevelles, Cudas, etc. and being the Vette was higher in the hierarchy I figured "why not go Vette". I have never looked back and now have owned (3).

My dad bought a new 78 anniversary and I remember riding around in it as a kid. It currently sits in his driveway not running but I guess its always been in my blood. I like sports cars. I hate GM but I view the Vette as kind of a stepkid. And who doesnt love 505 hp? =]

It has the best performance, luxury, and looks for the dollar. Especially if you get the LS7 engine, but C6s are all good.

Most working people can afford some kind of C6 nowadays, and some of the earlier ones (C3, C4) are especially affordable. You only live once!

Always wanted one but couldn't justify spending the money until 4 years ago. One month after my 74th birthday. Bought my 2005 1sb with Z51 option and manual transmission from the original owner. A female retired high school teacher. Was completely stock when I bought it and will remain that way. I did replace the stock exhaust with a Corsa Sport axel back system though.

It is both the first and last Vette I'll own. Staying debt free and keeping my money is more important than a newer Corvette.


Edit; As excited as I was buying my first Corvette, I was more excited about two months later making my final home mortgage payment.

Saw a new Red 1962 in the showroom when I was 13, hooked ever since. I have been fortunate to have owned many since about 1968. Looking forward the the C-8. :thumbs:

I fell in love with the performance and looks years ago, went a different route due to wanting a warranty and paying cash. I never sat in or drove a C6Z before I purchased mine, I just knew I would love the Z! The Z handles better than my road course mustangs on R-Comp tires stock, I love the power, the lighter weight, and the gorgeous looks! I also wanted to get into a DD that was fun! H/C is next and I cannot wait, I need to stop watching H/C videos!

Because I missed the one that I had when I was 25.

I always loved the Corvette. I couldn't, or wouldn't, afford it when I was younger. I bought one as soon as it was fiscally reasonable to do so. It is one hell of a bargain for a performance sports car, especially when bought lightly used.

I work for GM and always wanted one. I have no plans to modify other than the Corsa exhaust that was already on the car and the addition of weathertechs with a flat 10" sub. I will be changing out to the duralast gold pads this spring to remove the squeal.
