2020 ME Corvette vs. other ME’s

Since we already have had three darn good Corvette ME threads closed because of repat/substained off-topic posts, and I and many of us would like to keep our good Corvette ME rendering threads open, here’s an option.

This is a thread for all to post as many pictures, comments, facts and components information about the 2020 Corvette ME and all of its other-brand rivals.. By having this dedicated and separate thread, folks can post hundreds of pictures of Ferrari, Lambo, McLaran, and tons of other ME’s, and those that choose can also include facts and figures about the other-brand components advantages, issues, and whatever, contrasting all of this to our Corvette ME.

Hopefully by having this dedicated, separate, thread, it will keep other ME rendering threads open.

So starting where we did:

https://s9.postimg.org/ulkv4fq67/91_...97_FCEE955.jpg

Which then led us, with ZERV/c7pimp input, and firstvettesoon and others skills and additional info/idea to something like this:

https://s9.postimg.org/rrhpr4t6n/AF0...C232_A80_A.gif

And now we proceed to compare the above to other-brands, such as:

Great thread idea.

I posted this in another thread.

No doubt it will be more practical/ usable/ drivable than the Aria and other " supercars".

My recipe for the c8 ME.

45% Ferrari 488. 20% Porsche TurboS. 15% C7. 10% Lamborghini Hurrican. 10% Aston Martin DBS. 10% McLaren 720.

Thanks bikerjulio. I really like the appearance of the Hennessy F5. That Venom body colored “A pillar” look might have us get a color painted matching “A” pillar from RPI, for I always liked the continuous “color arch” that the F5 has, and never have been a fan of the “chopped off hockey stick” look my friend’s SR has with his “dark” roof.

^^^ I like it too. I've contemplated doing my A-pillars in Torch Red myself.....

I think that would look terrific on your car Steven!

AORoads 03-12-2018 02:51 PM

Good idea for a separate thread!

Shaka 03-12-2018 03:40 PM

This is hilarious. Let's see how many of the complainers of the other threads post here. Two so far. Unbelievable. They will abandon the other thread/s. Watch this folks. Oh my God.
Anyway. The C8 will be measured very closely against cars costing many more schillings. This FXXK is very beautiful car, but this 488 faster. We will have to go faster yet. because we will be in the same races in the same class. Can the Corvette boys pull it off?

What I don't understand, other than the above opening comment, is how you can look at such majesty and not wonder how it was created. I was a guest at a raptor club once and stood with them observing eagles soar.
Not a one of them was an aviator. Not a one of them was interested in the theory of flight.
How can you possibly look at this Ferrari without knowing it's true beauty. This is me flying this wonderful craft powered by God. I have literally soared with eagles.

This FXXK has those little winglet thingies in front. Describe their function in this specific application. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or is it. How can you comment on the new Corvette without knowing it's true beauty? Just saying.

Shmee again. This Pagani has a 6.3L 12 with 700 HP or something like that. What struck me was the small (I thought) intakes relative to that power.

There are two cars. Each have different intakes in different locations. Why is that? Ask your friend FCS. I don't care if you don't know the answer.

I have full faith in the the Corvette ME street team and the Corvette ME race team. Both will succeed! And for those whom the ME is not their cup of tea, they can continue to enjoy their cup of coffee, e.g., the C7 in its many forms.

Kind of like going into a pastry shop and you and your friend/SO choose different pastries, e.g., your friend a Bismarck, you a Napoleon. Damn, I like both!

There are so many beautiful sports cars!

I think the 1st year model Z51 Corvette needs to compete favorably with the yet to be released Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 with the NA Flat-6. (the only other sports car on the table for me personally)

Price wise a well optioned full MSRP (as they all will be for the first 2 years) Z51 C8 is going to be at a similar price as the new Cayman. The C8 will have V8 power and will win quite handily in that department. But it's the subtle feel and intuitive handling component that makes the Porsche so special. I think a lot of power and huge tires can really take away from that sensation (as much as I love power and wide tires!) and this is the big thing that GM has struggled with at times, particular in the C7 Z06. The new engine location is going to give them a huge head start in this regard.

The later C8 high performance variants will compare favorably to the big boys, the 1/4 million dollar car club, except you'll be able to buy one for 1/8 of a million dollars instead.

Everybody....let's not let this thread go awry. Keep the conversation civil. State your case and then LEAVE IT ALONE.

If others agree with you....great. If not....great. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Sold My 6 speed manual R8 to a surgeon in California and now waiting for my ME. First in line at my dealer. I am glad GM is moving to mid engine, I know some don’t like change I been waiting for years. My only complaint wish they could hurry this along. I do wish the ME was going to be a manual but I am good with dual clutch, if it’s programmed correctly. Like The new Ferrari Pista https://488pista.ferrari.com/en
I Heard the dual clutch is very fast and rough similar to the single clutch versions. When you shift in race mode it hits hard.

I would mention the Ferrari 488 Is both powerful and has great handling feel.

The corvette engineering team will deliver excellence in handling and have fabulous steering feel.

Of course I'm always the eternal optimist.

Suns_PSD 03-13-2018 11:57 AM

Gosh, when you really think about it, the C8 Corvette is going to have no equal in it's price range, not even close. When you really start adding things up, it's really the only logical choice.
Just saying.
It might not be quite as sexy or rare as a Porsche, but it's going to have more power, be more reliable, be more service friendly, have more mods available, cost less, and so on. The list just goes on and on.

All true...but I see more Porsche on the road than even C7s ! :D

I feel with the C8 the only reason to buy a foreign supercar is for the exotic exclusivity but the ME will be pretty exotic itself. The pricing will be interesting. Too low and there is less cachet. Too high and people may consider the foreign exotic...but the performance will be a deciding factor as you say. Power, reliability, ease of service (hopefully) drive-ability comfort, track performance etc...

I can't imaging GM would release a high performance ME that had substantially "less" performance than the C7zo6 so using that as a starting point the ME should be a monster.

JerriVette 03-13-2018 05:05 PM

In addition to many of the attributes being discussed the cost of maintaince and service as well as durability that GM puts into all of its vehicles compared to the Europeans is another good reason to choose corvette.

I have no patience in my life for a PIA vehicle that breaks down nor do I have the service costs raping me once the warranty expires.

As great as the Ferrari, Lamborghini or mclaren are....I don't have the desire to be a slave to any vehicle ownership experience.

My cars need to serve me...a high maintence mistress is for those who desire such things.

Corvettes attract consumers who want a high performance sports car vehicle that just needs oil changes gasoline and every two years new tires.

Bend over service rates at Porsche dealerships out of warranty makes them a close but no starter for many of us.

Plus the little boxsters and cayman are outclassed by the GM LT1 power plant as a standard engine. Imho
