Running out of Fuel pressure
Over the weekend we put my ECS 1500 setup on the dyno
My fuel setup is FIConnection - 1000's ECS stage 1 aux fuel kit which is an aux 380lph walboro 450 in tank with a BAP Made 687 on 93 with the restriction plate in . 9 lbs of boost We then drained the tank and put in E85 which read as E80 Did a pull on the dyno it immediately picked up 30 hp without any tune modifications. BUT it seem to lose fuel pressure around 5k rpm. seems like my pumps cant keep up but we suspect that there is a restriction somewhere. Thinking about it we are considering feeding the Fuel rail in 2 places rather than the one line. suspecting that the volume of fuel needed vs the feed size is why pressure couldnt keep up? any ideas on what we could do to keep the pressure up? anyone have any experience with the issue ? or any solutions. We were thinking of feeding those 2 lines and also installing my alkymeth kit as a supplement if needed |
Are you sure the 2nd pump is kicking on? Should be more than enough fuel.

How are you reading fuel pressure? I’m with Unreal that you have more than enough pump(s) at that power level. The AEM 385 in the ECS Stage 1 kit by itself could almost suffice.
I’ve thought about running a separate line forward to Tee into the test port on the rail, but decided against it, because I figured that if the ECS E85 kit (and older Stage 2 kits) with the A1000 pump still used the single stock fuel supply line, then that couldn’t be a restriction for my power level. I would check the obvious culprits, like the grounds for everything, the Hobbs switches for the Aux pump and the BAP, etc. BTW: I don’t think you need a BAP in there either. That’s just something else to worry about failing. Good luck with solving it. These kind of bugs can drive you nuts. |
In for finding the culprit too....i just finished a dual walbro 450's intank setup and hoping they both run as designed as well

How are you monitoring fuel pressure?

I had fittings welded to the front of my stock rail just for this reason. I couldn't see how the tiny bottle neck inlet that the factory inlet T's to the two rails at could possibly support 8 ID1000's.

i installed an LED to my ECS stage 1 . At least i know when it is sending power to it.

Any updates, I ended up having the same issues. When tuning the e85 I got to 660whp before the tuner said they were running out of fuel. I have the same ecs stage 1 with the A1000 but on stock pump. I too haven't had the time to really check and see but I plan on shortly. I am not sure if it's the A1000 pump itself or the lines, hobbs switch etc. I have ecs 1500 supercharger kit with 1000cc injectors as well.

No updates just yet.
We are thinking of throwing some meth on there to relieve the fuel pumps a little. That LED idea seems smart. ill do it. where did you mount the led? |
I'm thinking about doing the same thing. The LED as well as figure out if my pump still works efficiency and all the wiring is still good, as well as the vacuum actually comes on and starts to work.

I also have a pod LED hooked to my fuel pumps as well as a momentary push button switch so I can test the fuel pumps before to run and watch the fuel pressure go up.
I also use it to flush E85 out so it doesn't sit in the lines or pump. |

Without being boost referenced the injectors aren't as big as they sound. Meth will help a lot . Check the pumps and get a gauge to actually measure pressure before tearing into it .
For reference I make 880rwhp with a stock 07 pump, 380lph ecs stage one and dual 10gph meth nozzles and Bosch 127 injectors. I can only run 70% ethanol with this setup before I run out of fuel . Someday I'll boost reference it . |
Supposedly there are knock-off Walbro 450 pumps floating around Amazon, if that's where you purchased yours from.

So I believe my problem with my ECS system is that I ran the vac/boost lines off the Hobbs incorrectly. Should I connect it to my BOV?
