Can you add a under hood light
 

to one that does not have a hood light? My 2012 GS does not have one but i would like to add that to it

Funny thing, the C5 had it. For some reason, GM felt like we're never gonna open the hood in dark, so they eliminated the light... :willy:

Since the underhood light was never an option on your 2012 GS, there is no wiring going up to the hood.

I guess you could 'Jerry-Rig' something, but it might be a pain in the arse.

Yes you can, but you will need (should) replace your hood liner.

Thanks i just ordered a new hood liner with Grand Sport on it and it has the cutout for the light

Absolutely untrue. All C6's are wired for it even if your car never came with it. Look straight down the passenger side of the radiator and the plug for the light is right there. Here ya go; BTW my car is a 2013 GS.

:iagree: That's where the harness that comes with kit I posted a link to plugs in; you then run the harness up through and under the hood liner to the light. :cheers:

I have an 08 Z06 and my wiring is there as well. Just no light installed.

Just replace the bulb with a LED from one of the forum vendors. I did in my C5. :thumbs:

Thats a good idea....on my 06 the light is totaly useless. In fact I disconnected it years ago. It was a nusiance at car shows. It does time out but only if you dont reopen the doors or the trunk, then it restarts the cycle and by the end of the day you run the risk of a dead battery which happened to me once

Where did you order your hood liner? Every parts place tells me that the hood liners for C6 have been discontinued.

I ordered the harness today!! will be a couple weeks before it is shipped. GM is behind on shipping
