1978 Silver Anniversary 547 Miles

All,
I am prepping a 78 with 547 miles to go to Bloomington in June
Then start the NCRS process.
Question
What was given to the customer / How was the 78 delivered to the dealer?
This one has all the plastic on the seats, steering wheel, cardboard on the floor. Knock outs on the keys are intact. Ttop cover is in one of the storage compartments.
Was there anything else besides books, warranty info given to the customer, dealer? This is a true one owner 547 mile car.
Thanks in advance
Chris

Here is all the stuff that was given to me when I bought my '80. There is a tag that shows how to use the hazard switch. Also a sun visor sleeve that shows the turn signal and mirror operation. My glass t-top car had another sleeve warning about adjusting the t-tops. There also is an epa label that was affixed to the passenger glass next to the window sticker. My car was ordered with the CB radio and there are rules and application for a license to legally use the radio.

King Rat
Thank you
Yep - we have all that -
There are also stickers attached to the bottom of the T-Tops....that are still on there....

These low-mileage 78s always draw a nice crowd and people never seem to get enough of those original wrappings so this will be fun. Yeah, I'll be there as well.

The blue purple hazard switch tag is usually the most difficult to secure and hang and makes it a rather complete originally delivered car.

Check the spare tire tub and just check that have everything is in order...rubber lock boot, spare tire, dead mice removed? etc.

Curious is the spare tire rim yellow or black? Build date?

I do need the purple harzard switch tag (just bought one.....)
I will be dropping the spare to clean - I will get some photos
It has never been down

Another question - what was the original oil filter - this one was changed

Little more about this car
It is the very last 1978 Corvette ever built
It is also the last 78 Silver anniversary car ever built
We have photos of the car on the assembly line being buillt from a bare body thru assembly

Page 103 of the Judging Manual. Ac, PF-25. Original filters are painted dark blue and use an adhesive-backed label for the AC&GM logs, type designation, part number and installation instructions. The label has a dark blue background with a white border and white lettering. The ac logo is red with a white border and letters. The part number on the label is 6438261. If you do a search some will say they fit or have different colors so be aware.

Should look like this. .:

My 1978 Final Process article just came out in the Corvette Restorer and would have loved to include your photo of a 78 on the assembly line!

csherman... I find this post absolutely fascinating! Please DO post pictures (lots of them) for those of us who can not make it to the event! I`d say good luck on the judging, but from the sound of it, this car is a "shoe-in" already!
KingRat...amazing collection of original paperwork & documentation! Some day I`d like to attend one of these events to see some of these original cars in person! (Retirement is getting VERY close...can`t wait!)

You're teasing us! LOL :toetap:

csherman 03-29-2018 07:51 AM

The last is the most interesting. I note the following:
  • The body dolly
  • The paint is all silver, one color
  • Is that a buildsheet on the hood?
  • The man appears to have a key and paper in the other hand.
  • Door handle installed and perhaps key switch
  • The hood looks to have a decal but there are not others...camera flash?
  • Radiator and radiator core

I'm wondering if this is just past second paint booth/bake and at the tag station where VIN and key codes were assigned?
