Seating is tight, is there a Seat Mod?

Hi y'all.

I'm wanting to trade in the C6 for the C7 but the seating is tight...my shoulders don't fit right.

I'm thinking...and I hate to do this but swapping seats from my C6 somehow....

anyone mod the seat? Thanks

Which seats have you tried in the C7 ?

The 1LT seats fit my wide girth better than the other options.

Never done a seat switch mod. But I will agree with you the seats are smaller than expected. I was pretty disappointed that after all they put in to the seats, that they don't allow you to adjust the bolsters. 40k BMWs allow you to do that, but you can't get that on a 70+K sports car. Come on.

2LT and up have adjustable bolsters.

Not on the bottom. (unless that was added for 2018).

Make sure you sat in the GT seat and not Competition seats. Not sure how big you are, but I'm 6'3" 225 lbs and fit in the GT seat comfortably even on long roadtrips.

I tried the competition seats before I ordered and my shoulders were sore just after a few minutes. I went with the GT seats and have no issues. I'm also 225 with broad shoulders.
Just did a 500 miles trip with no complaints about the GT seats...........even wife loves the ride.

after sitting in the hot sun daily and about 5000 miles my upper seats really molded around me, it was weird at first but now it is a perfect fit... I daily drive mine so your miles may vary...

I've never seen a car with adjustable thigh bolsters. I've got an Audi S5 that doesn't have that, but it also has sport seats that are halfway between the GT and Comp seats on the Vette.

There is a seat mod, but you have to modify your seat, not the one in the car.

Always thought it was weird Chevrolet named the base model seats the GT seats. It has confused people from day one. Standard seats vs competition. GT vs Competition makes seams like you have two options in addition to the standard seat.

Really? I believe i was in a BMW that did that last year. It was great. The front of the seat even extended out more for people with longer legs. I believe it was a 5 series.

I would think that this late in the game you may want to consider the C8. Maybe you would fit better but who knows.

Definitely try the GT (standard) seats, OP. Avoid the competition seats.

Also, like Casey, you may find the seats loosen up over time. My GT seats (1LT model) seemed tight between the bottom bolsters when new but after about 500 miles seemed better. Maybe try on a used C7 to see if this might be the case with the back also.

Recaro or similar seats might be better, but before buying find a company that already has done the swap as they might not fit in the tight C7 cockpit. Also, fitting the side air bags could be a problem.

I hated the seats in my C6. As soon as I sat in a C7, I was amazed at the improvement. I really like the C7 GT seats and find them as good as those we had in our 2006 911.

My 135is has upper and lower power bolster adjustments as well as the manual thigh support adjustment plus lumbar.

It is somewhat odd some of the things Chevrolet scrimped on like rain sensing wipers considering its price point. Ventilated seats are a plus though.

I am 5’7”, 215lbs and my thighs are a little bigger than average due to weightlifting. I am able to fit snugly in the seat bottom if I ensure I slide to the right fully. If I just hop in, my left thigh will be resting on top of the seat bolster. It’s a very comfortable seat, just not a lot of room for moving around once you’re in there.
