A&A Supercharger Filter - Extending Life / Performance

I finally got around to removing the factory A&A supercharger filter and couldn't believe how much road debris was plastered to the filter after only about 3k miles. These cars are bottom feeders and it sure vacuumed every street with the blower. I cleaned out the filter and restored its original quality with a K&N cleaner kit and then applied a light coating of oil. This is when I decided to add the outerwear pre-filter like many of my off-road toys I had in the past. For anyone with the A&A filter I highly recommend ordering one of these. I filled out the custom order form (attached photo has the dimensions you need) and it arrived within 3 weeks. This will not restrict airflow and has a water repellant coating. The larger chunks of dirt will just fall right off. I have always had good luck with these pre-filters and hopefully this adds protection to the engine and supercharger.

Ordered on their website. I think it was like 45 shipped

Did it require you to submit your sizes for a quote?

You ordered with the top and yes to “does it have a flange”, right?

Always had these on my quads too, honestly never thought about putting on on my car.... not that I drive it that much anyways.

Thanks for posting, I may go this route as well. I pulled my filter off last year to try and get it clean after 5 years of use, and it was near impossible. Even using 125psi compresse air hose I couldn't get the little bits of debris out of the filter. I put it back together and just decided I'll buy a new one this year. Will likely put one of these over it when I do.

Yes I had to submit custom size and selected "with top". It already comes made for flange.

I just ordered one. Thanks for the info and they just used your order info to make me one.

Good timing to this post. Definitely going to order one.

I'm swapping over to a mafless pipe and took the front apart. In just 1500 miles the radiator and AC condenser have stacked up with leaves and tumbleweed junk. My car is also lowered. I have seen where people have used chicken wire across the bottom of the nose to keep larger debris out.

Is anyone aware of an alternative for that purpose?

Cutlassmaster 05-17-2018 09:31 PM

Call them up and I bet they could make one for the condenser. Then you can let us know how well it works after a few months. Also if it affect temps at all.

Glad to see that you guys were able to order these off of my original order #! I checked my filter after about 1000 miles and the pre filter is defintely doing its job!

Cutlassmaster 05-29-2018 01:49 PM

Received mine on Memorial Day. Took 11 days so that was not bad at all. Now I just need to install it.

billetproof97' 06-13-2018 04:59 PM

this is excellent I need one of these.

Took my filter out yesterday and I was amazed how dirty it was too, after about 3500 miles! Spent well over an hour cleaning it.
I've used K&N filters for years on my Harley's and never had one near as dirty. The supercharger really pulls in a lot more debris.
I called and ordered a pre-filter using your item number as well. Thank you for the info.

Keep in mind when cleaning your filters to only apply a very small amount of oil to the element after it has dried. I mean really light spray. I thought I went light the first time and ended up having to clean the MAF twice, I had some issues starting the car after I cleaned the filter.

I would love to find a new filter but can't seem to find one. A&A does not have them :(

Give them a call and have a custom size made. The filter I am running came with my A&A kit that was installed maybe 2 years ago.

Update: Since posting I have pulled the air filter out for cleaning and it looks great! After washing it, there was fine sediment that collected in the bottom of my wash pan. Not nearly as much as I expected, I would say this pre filter has done an excellent job increasing the performance of the filter.

On a side note - I will be trying to find a way to seal my IAT sensor because I can almost freely blow air through the plug and sensor. I imagine this does not help with boost! It lets way too much air through it. Anyone ever fix this?
