Are you considering a c8 rear mid engine corvette or...
Will the C6 used market be flooded with the arrival of the new mid engine vette?
Anyone just waiting for the C8 to hit the show room? Who will be the first to jump on one? A lot of guys did not move from c6 to c7 as they might have felt besides the improved interior the difference in driving experience of say the z51 c7 wasn't enough of a change from c6 to c7 but the rear mid engine c8 promises an entirely new driving experience....enough to warrant the give away of their c6 and a seventy grand purchase .. What say you? Are you even considering buying a c8? If so will you keep your c6 as extra car or sell it to make room for the new c8 and just have one new ride? thanks and I look forward to your opinions. Oh or would you just pick up a lightly used c7 z06 with its mighty 650 hp motor in the 50s? |
I will be sticking with my C6 Z06 for quite some time as I am more than happy with it. I am very interested in the C8, but it will be out of my price range for sure. If I could afford to get one, I would keep my C6Z.

The looks of the C7, and the renderings of the C8 just don't do anything for me. Even if I was interested in a C8, being this radical of a design change, no way in hell I would buy first year out.

The C8 will be out of my budget range no doubt. I'm looking forward to there being a flood of C7's though, I'll jump on a C7 Grand Sport convertible for sure!
|
The C7 doesn't interest me in the least. At this point the C8 definitely looks interesting. I am retired, don't put a lot of miles on my car, am perfectly satisfied with my Centennial GS vert, and I plan to just continue to enjoy it for the forseeable future.

All in on the C8’s
I am all in on the C8.... about the second or third year of production .... it will be my last Corvette....I am very excited. |

Standard or widebody there isn't much better than holding the pink slip free & clear.
Anticipate C8 can't be a cheap proposition; especially, if competing w/ & /measuring-up to Ford's GT. Which I'm guessing is C8's goal? C8 will easily be the biggest, most evolutionary change of Corvette in its 65 years, hands-down. |
Depends on the price.

There is a catch on C8 which I have read about, and our Chevy dealer/sponsor have off the record concurred. The mid-engine model will be a "super Vette" priced at about $250k it is believed. It will be limited edition of about (500) units. There will still be a standard front engine model much like today, priced about the same as today. Some trade rags seem to believe GM is positioning to make Corvette its own brand with even rumors of a low end Vette based on the Pontiac Soltice/Saturn Skye platform to appeal to younger buyers as well, a spot Corvette has lost buyers to over its history.
It may get interesting if all of this plays out. |
I gave some thought to moving to a C7 then decided to wait and see what the C8 looks like. I'm still not sure I will move to either one but I imagine the C7 prices will fall even further.
I still really like my C6 so it would take the perfect vette to part with it either way. |
One other choice missing from the poll.
Buy a gently used 2017-2018 C7 other than a ZO6. That is what I will do in 2 years. Time to upgrade. I heard all the crying about the C6 when it first came out and those poeple that were whining about the awful head lights now own a C6 and swear they will stay away from the C7. Amazing how your outlook changes after a few years!! |
I don't believe the C8 nonsense. I still say the mid engine car is a Caddy. The C8 will be front engine and come out in like 2022 or 2023.
|
I have never seen a Corvette I did not like. Some model years more than others sure but they are all great fun cars. That said I am having some problem getting my head around a mid- engine Corvette. I love my 2013 427 and don't think Chevy/GM will get me out of it for a mid engine car.
|
For the foreseeable future, I'll keep my C6 Grand Sport.
|
My approach is a bit different. I figure if/when the C8 releases, C7 prices may drop, then I will find a low mileage C7!

Keeping an open mind and waiting to see one up close & personal before making a decision.
