Door Slammer

Any way to convince my wife not to slam the vette door and still keep the peace? I've told her next time she'll be walking but you know how that goes! BTW she knows she'll never drive it-----not why I'm still alive.

Maybe start slamming doors in the house until she gets the point. It's not hard to shut.

Fcal 04-18-2018 07:01 PM

slam the oven door, the fridge door, the microwave door, etc

So buy your wife her own Vette! My wife has had her own Vette since 1976! She current has a 2016 Vert all to herself. Of course, she can drive any of them whenever she pleases. She details her own car always, and she never slams the door. Give your wife some wings, man. You won’t regret it.

What incredibly childish ideas.

Be a gentlemen and open the door for her and shut it after you help her in. Works for me

I don't have any advice about how to "convince" your wife anything. I'm not that dumb myself. I do see at least three options for you though there may be more if you don't mind a fight.

One is to learn to live with it. Pick your fights and maybe this one isn't one of them. I know it can be annoying, I'd hate it myself. But if she isn't causing damage then maybe it isn't so bad after all.

Another is to plead with her. Remind her how much this car means to you. How much you wish to use it gently so it will last and remain tight in its fitting. And her assistance with this will be much appreciated.

My choice and solution is to always open and close her door for her. I remind her of my love and my wish to show her and the world that I'm here to serve my queen. And keep fingernails and diamonds away from the paint. And to keep her from slamming the door. And to make points when I can.

I'm like this also and the only bad thing about it is when she tells her girlfriends they end up fighting with their husbands for not doing the same.

Cringe and live with it.

Why can women struggle to open jars, but they can slam a car door like they have the strength of 10 men?

Call it what you want. It's very disrespectful to be slamming someone's door after they have asked you not to. My ex wife actually slammed our car door once when the window was down a bit and it shattered. After my reaction she never did it again. It's a respect thing 😏

I'm pretty sure harming a guys corvette is grounds for divorce... time for a wife upgrade! I'm kidding, probably.

You better get out quicker, and either shut your door (so her force of shutting is appropriate) or run to the other side so you can open and shut it for her.

Shutting a Vette door with the big surface area that it has requires two completely different forces when open vs shut.

It's easy to "slam" it if either the windows are open or the other door is open, and you didn't consciously remember it. I bet you've done it, too.

You guys are never getting laid again. Not a problem for me. I'm a gentleman and always get the door for my wife. She doesn't slam doors on the F150, Audi, or Corvette.

lakemg 04-18-2018 09:42 PM

Simply explain that the door is composed of light weight composite material which requires a lot less force to close compared to the heavy steel doors that she is used to closing.

If it happens again tell her you're calling this guy.
