Who still has their first Vette?

I was looking at JETSTEEL's recent post and wanted to expand on
856SPEED's response "Buying your first Vette is the second happiest day of your life. Selling it will be the happiest day....."

I still have my first Vette I purchased around 1990, I can honestly say there is no amount of money that can buy it from me. During all the rough patches life tossed at me, I always had the Vette to focus on and tinker with. I think it kept me sane and grounded.:willy:

Who still has their first Vette, and what would it take for you to sell it?:lurk:

Best thing is back then I finalized the divorce on Friday and bought the Vette on Saturday. It was a good weekend!

I still have mine. I'm not seeking a buyer for it, but if somebody offered me stupid money for it, I'd snap it up and put the proceeds toward a C1 or C2. I very still much enjoy the car, but I have no real emotional attachment to it, or to any other material items for that matter.

Still have my first Corvette. It would take an amount about three times what it is actually worth for me to part with it.
So says my wife.

Bought in 05. Done a bunch of stuff over the years, stroker motor, trans, rear end first. FX3 shocks and suspension next. Broken seats and torn carpet finally forced me to change it. My practice is to "get the car running perfectly (within reason) before polishing the chrome", so to speak. Now doing body work because it has cracks in the hood and the roof is delaminating. So dumping it is out of the question since the wife and I don't just dump out toys when the next year comes up. Well, my only indulgence is the annual new cell phone with the cool gadgets but sell the old. PP Value is 3500-7500. $7500-9000 would be the eBay value. Upgrades less the use I have had, probably worth $15-20K TO ME. Not a reality price nor would someone be stupid enough to give me his decent condition C6 in an almost even trade so I would have to drive it into the ground and upgrade to a C5 or maybe C6 when it is broke beyond what is easily repaired.

I still have mine, 1959. I bought it for $5500 back in 1984. It would take quite a bit more than that to buy it from me - that is if I wanted to sell...

:iagree: Ex wife made a run at my C4,but failed. 2nd best day was when divorce was final & she had to write me a fat azz check:lol: So I could buy a newer corvette & looked at them,But I still love my C4 the most :yesnod:

My 14 year old son was given his 1992 C4 that needed work from his uncle Johnny.

Now two years later after a bit of fixing and money, he uses it as his daily
driver.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...d4f66eda34.jpgI still have mine, albeit it's only been about a month and a half...I'm the 3rd and FINAL owner, told my son if anything happens to me take it maintain it and give it to my grandson only IF he's responsible enough to have it.

When I was looking for my first vette,I wasn't looking for any perticular color or anything, just as long as it was a corvette I would be good with it...I have a plan and a vision for how I want her to look and run,and I know its gonna take some time...i want it all NOW!!!

Bought my 95 13 years ago. Here is 1st wash after 1000 mile drive home. and here it is in the driveway more than 100,000 miles later.

Sell it? Yeah don't think so. If I didn't sell it 6 years ago when I bought the C5 no reason to sell it now. Have WAY too much $$ into it:rofl:

While I've had mine for only about 7 months, and I really like it.....I'd sell it today for pretty close to what it's worth. Maybe try for $13K. A '93 23K mile 6 speed car might be worth close to that. After I play with it for a while the price will come down....especially if/when I find the next toy..

I don't add sentiment to material things, and I see no use in keeping any particular toy forever. There are too many other cool/fun toys to be had and I want to try as many of them as I can while I still can...

This will be year 5 for mine. I've spent a lot of time making it 'mine', doing and adjusting things to be just the way I want it. Not done yet and probably never will if I have my way.
Sell it? It would have to be an absolutely insane amount of $$ to consider. Didn't say I'd sell, rather just to consider it.

aklim 04-21-2018 07:07 PM

Maybe we should ask "How much YOU would take for your car?"

Thanks. 8 years ago I had the front bumper cover and the lower half of the hood resprayed and had the entire car re-cleared at the same time. Since then I've kept up on it with an orbital buffer:thumbs:

I still have mine. I would sell it if the right offer came around. I have had it for 2 1/2 years. It was pretty solid when I bought it and well taken care off by the previous owners. I painted it and did some work hgere and there. I'm going to re-do some of the interior this summer.

MRANT212 04-21-2018 11:44 PM

Still have my 88 since 2001.... have no interest in getting rid of it unless someone throws stupid money at me. That will never happen so I'll probably just pass the car to my son one day.

grandspt 04-22-2018 06:49 AM

Still have mine since I purchased it new in 1996. It runs great but I wish the frame wasn't as flexible as it is (C4 thing) the roads in MA don't help.
Would I sell it, probably not I have had too many good memories with me and my dad in it.

The '64 C2 was purchased in '86, the '85 C4 in '90. Never really think about selling, they're too much fun...plus I'm much better at buying than I am at selling.
