Power to radio when Battery disconnected

I thought I read somewhere that there was a way to keep power to radio when you disconnect battery for replacement. Hate to loose all the preset stuff on the radio!

You won't lose anything.

:iagree: You'll be fine.
You will only need to re-index your windows (and maybe seat presets).

Even if it a aftermarket radio??

Most modern radios, etc store the info to PROM, so will have no issues.

That I don't know but likely yes, you won't lose anything.

In Kenwoods at last you can save all your radio settings, and recall them after power loss.

Have swapped batteries a couple of times since installing my Kenwood and have never lost any of my settings

I have a Pioneer radio and replaced the battery this past weekend. All radio presets were saved. Only had to index the windows.

Back in the day I wired a 9 volt battery to a cigarette lighter and plugged that in when i unhooked the batt...not needed now.

I guess by this message you're swapping the battery yourself. A battery shop knows to keep auxillary power on the car during the change-out.

:iagree:

This will work in a pinch.

I have a little 9volt battery plug for the cigarette lighter that I use which I bought on Amazon for a few bucks, and have never lost any settings or window indexing when replacing or disconnecting the battery.

When I've disconnected my battery, my Kenwood lost all equalizer settings. This has happened on two different cars. I don't use the radio so I don't know about the presets.

I've had my battery disconnected many times and usually nothing is affected (other than the windows, of course). I've never had to reset the stations on the radio,

As the car has gotten older I've had to reset a few things. The clock a few times, the steering wheel once, and the latest occurrence I had to reset the driver-side mirror.

Go figure.
