How are the Firehawk Indy500?

Or do you recommend other summer tires? (I know PS4 are amazing, but what are the second best in 295 size for the rear?)

The overwhelming #1 recommendation for summer max performance tires remains the OEM PSS ZP. There are no test data that show the PS4S to be a better performer on the C7, and it's not available as a ZP.

Hopefully, you're not one of those folks clinging to the out-of-date notion that non-ZP tires are somehow better. Once upon a time years ago, that may have been true, but now they are not, and non-ZP tires have huge and obvious disadvantages.

That is undeniably a general chart for all makes and models. I'm talking about specific reviews for the C7, and actual performance data. Those are consumer ratings, which are about as informative as Yelp.

Even acknowledging the limitations of the data your presented, the differences are round-off error, and if you look at the mileage ratings there's 8.4 million miles worth of reviews for the PSS, and 399K for the PS4S. Regression toward the mean more than accounts for those differences.

Lastly, if you actually use your C7 as a real car, running a non-ZP is roll of the dice. C7 sizes are not routinely available at tire shops. Now, if yours is one of the majority of garage queen C7s, you're probably OK with anything that rolls.

From what i've read on the C7 forum and C7 FB, people either switch to A/S 3+ or 4S.

Heard nothing but positive about the 4S from everybody who has owned it (C7 peeps)

I had some on my 04 wear was fantastic. Wet driving was excellent. Price was the cheapest

How would you rate it traction and comfort/noise wise?

The 4S's are really nice and not that expensive. I just bought a complete set for my Z51 for just under $1,300 through Tirebuyer.com. Had them at my installer 2 days later. I've only had them for a few weeks, but up to this point I am very impressed. Whether or not you need run-flats, is something only you can answer. For many people, like myself, I do not need them. Just don't discount the 4S's because of price. They may be more affordable than you think.

I didn't say the 4S wasn't good. I said it's not better, and it's not a ZP tire, which is a non-starter for people who use their C7s as daily drivers.

Regression and sample size doesn't really matter, if the reviews are as good as yelp, does it?...

No idea what your question is. As I said, the numbers are round-off error (AKA not statistically significant). Look up "regression toward the mean."

It's just not the top tire as much as you love it.

And if i would give it a rating myself, it would be 6/10. It's an decent tire. That's it.

I had the Firehawk Indy500 on my 2012 C6 Base Coupe and really liked those tires when I had them. Very good wear characteristics and excellent wet grip. I felt that the wet grip was even better than the OEM Michelin PSS-ZP in C7 Z51 or GS sizes. However, dry grip wasn't as great as the PSS-ZP in comparison but not bad either.


Overall, if you're ok giving up run flat security then it is the best bang for buck tire for a Base or Z51 Corvette by far.

:iagree: And I've twice had to drive long distances with zero tire pressure after road hazard contact. ZPs are great!:thumbs::cool:

That chart isnt so great. You have one tire with 8.4 million miles worth of data and another, the second rated at 400,000 miles. I wonder what the side of the road minutes are between the two sets?

Yeah, but if youre scared of sitting at road side, then shouldn't drive the car at all...

Or, you could not be an idiot, and use modern technology that performs every bit as great as the old school stuff. That is, of course, unless you enjoy inconvenience.

I had the Firestones on my Camaro and liked them way better than the Perellis that came standard. I did think they were loud.

I put Indy 500’s on my supercharged C7 about 1000 miles ago. I absolutely love them! Wet and dry traction is great, very quite, and I think handelling is on par or better than my old pss OEM tires without the annoying chatter. I’m running them in 255/35/19 & 295/30/20.
