What are your post-purchase regrets?

Thought it'd be interesting to see what regrets everyone has after buying their C7. I would hope most owners would say they regret nothing, but (for me, at least) there's always a few things nagging in the back of my head, despite how happy I am with the car.

Post a sentence describing the purchase and list your post-purchase regrets.

I bought a brand new black 2018 2LT stingray about 2 months ago. I regret:
  • not going for the z51 package
  • not getting a convertible
  • buying a 2018 when most cars are 2019 now

Got my '14 3LT vert just over 4 years ago. Not one regret to this day.

My only regret is having the car shipped to me (South Carolina) from NH ... the shipper was great but in retrospect I should have flown in and driven it back so I could have started enjoying my road time in the car sooner.

Picked mine up at the NCM and drove home. 14,000 beautiful trouble-free miles the first year with absolutely no regrets at all.

Got our 15 Z06 torch red A8 stage one LZ2 three years and two months ago. Only regret is that the HVAC doesn’t work right.

04vette81 05-15-2018 02:14 PM

would like the competition seats.

that's about it 15' AW 7M I'm happy with it.

Foosh 05-15-2018 02:15 PM

Well, let's see:

-Purchased both'14 and '18 Z51s
-Both M7 convertibles
-My 18 was built a few days before 19s started production and is identical in every way.

No regrets.

I ordered '17 1LT GS M7 with the options that I wanted. Absolutely no regrets. Love everything about the car!!!

FloridaVetteGuy 05-15-2018 02:19 PM

Ventilated seats would be nice now that it's getting hot in FL. It's the only option 2LT had that I wanted so I got the 1LT. Picked up the car in October and only now starting to regret not going 2LT.

My only regret was not including the PDR option on my '17 Grand Sport.

Otherwise, with this being my first Vette, it's been the perfect experience!

Spent quite a bit of time thinking about what I wanted and finally finding it and haven't had any issues so, No Regrets.

Not waiting for the Z06.

I've ordered 3 C7s and I dont have any regrets although getting the competition seats in my 17 GS was $2500 I maybe could have blown elsewhere. They are nice, but the GT seats are 80-85% as nice.

PhredIII 05-15-2018 02:34 PM

I regret not buying a C7 last year when I bought my '65 coupe. I now have a '17 coupe and enjoy everything.

oldC5 05-15-2018 02:37 PM

Not buying a vert.

Avanti 05-15-2018 02:48 PM

NONE! It (2018) was EXACTLY as I wanted at a silly price... all easy and convenient done from 1,500 miles away, from Kerbeck's.

I would change your perspective rather than focusing on things you might regret. For example, you can focus on the fact that you own a new Corvette. Most folks will never get that opportunity in their lifetime.

As for your specific regrets, it all depends how you look at things. Pros and cons...

- Z51 - Do you track the car? With the Z51 package you get a more expensive dry sump oil system that is more complicated and costs more for oil changes. Track focused brake pads that have a tendency to squeal and coat your wheel with dust within 5 minutes of driving. Stiffer suspension, which is great for lowering lap times but many fine too jarring for daily driving. Furthermore, you can throw some parts at some of these things and get them to your liking. For example, I added the Z51 sway bars to my base, which stiffens the suspension fairly well without having to move to the firmer shocks of the z51. I also added my own aftermarket exhaust that produces a more desirable note to my ears.

- Convertible - convertibles are nice on certain days with certain temperatures. I particularly like them on cool evening drives. That said, most of the time it is too hot, sunburn, etc. Furthermore, you need to maintain the top with a fabric sealers, the initial cost is more and if the top breaks they are expensive to fix. Pros and cons...

- 2018 vs. 2019 - You need to jump in and buy sometime. I bought a leftover 2017 when the 2018s were out. Sometimes you can time things right and leverage end of year sales, rebates, etc. but the discounts on C7s have been very good for a while now. There really is no better performance car for the money. What benefits or features would you have gained in a 2019 anyway? I thought the 2018 got the new wheels and tires on the base and HD radio.

Life is too short for regrets, get out there and enjoy the drive.

Previously I regretted only getting an A8 trans. I corrected that a few weeks ago with a 3LZ TR Z06 M7 Vert....no regrets

I don't think I would regret not spending $4500 for a fan under my seat :hide: Wouldn't it be nice if GM allowed us only to purchase the options we wanted.
