Documentation? Pictures of said car. As I recall 70 LT1s did not have power steering, I may be wrong though on this. I know he says original parts but I'd be damn sure they are good real original parts. Take someone who knows about these cars with you on this purchase. This sounds a little fishy but you really need to check it out.

If this is the car you're looking at the tach redline is WAY too low for a LT1 optioned car.

Try to find an NCRS member in the area and have him meet you there.

Remember a 1970 LT1 may not be happy in todays gas as the compression was kind of high.

I would pull the kick panels and check the birdcage for rot.

Doesn't matter if the seller offers to take you out to dinner, mow your yard and bathe your dog, DON'T make a move on this car until someone who knows LT-1's inside and out goes over it bumper to bumper. It may be the best thing since sliced bread, it may be a pretender. Either way you'll be in a position to confidently make a decision.
Nervous for you in the Lone Star

FYI: 70 LT1 mfg after May 1970 (late production) are available with power steering. CTU broadcast code engine should not have PS.

As Hammerhead Fred said the tach on a LT-1 will redline at 6500, and PS was not available until May, 1970, so you may want to check the build date.
A few other things you could look for:
A/C was not available;
The console tag should state 350ci/370hp/380lbft/11.00:1;
Holley carb instead of Q-Jet;
Transistorized ignition;
Aluminum intake and finned valve covers;
4 speed;
Engine code either CTK or CTV;
14” open element air cleaner;
3/8" single fuel line instead of dual line, etc.
There are great sources online that you can use to get part numbers for the correct distributor, exhaust manifolds, etc, that could help you learn more about LT-1s.
Best wishes with this.

1970 LT1's didn't come with a puke tank. The car in the pictures was not born an LT1 as it has way to many red flags.

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew there was something about the PS on the early ones. I did not know if it carried the full year. Obviously not. :thumbs:

Most all of the Negative comments are Correct. To many things wrong with this car. Not worth the expense of an inspection.
On a real LT1, P/S was probably available around the end of March along with the CTK stamped engine.

I would look through the for sale section here in the forum...based on the guys website alone I would not buy a car from him.

Looks like all of his cars are listed without real VINs. That, and why all of the low resolution pictures? For the prices he's asking, I would expect 100 high res pics of every car...

Run away, as fast as you can.

BearCatFan9,
I've been scolded by the moderator before for not advancing the thread.

I hope this posting is not misconstrued as another non advancing reply.

Judging by your relative new interest in C-3's you went after the holy grail of small blocks.
These and big block cars are the most faked C-3's.
At $43,000, I would consider an LT1 to be an experienced enthusiast or a serious collector car.
This is not a car you look at on Tuesday and buy on Friday of the same week.

I'd recommend attending a big corvette venue like a Carlisle etc.... before ever thinking about committing to a purchase.
This is where you cut your teeth and get as much wisdom as you can absorb. You need to look at a crop of bad cars so you know a good one when it surfaces.
A real LT1 would not be bastardized like the above example described.
I would seek out some professional advise here on the forum from actual LT1 owners who have documented authentic cars.
If any are local to you see if you can make an appointment to see a real one. There are certain tell tale LT1 features which a genuine car should have.

At 43,000 do not rush to buy or you may have some serious buyers remorse later. The time to learn is before the purchase not after you buy it.

Ask a lot of questions first, read up and know the vehicle before you even begin your search.
You'll be glad you followed the advise of the older experienced members here.
Marshal

I would be very skeptical of this dealer. From what I have read I would not buy from this dealer unless I had the vehicle put under extreme scrutiny.
