Water pump upgrade for 10 rib ECS system?
I’m in the process of trying to upgrade to 10 rib on an ECS bracket for use with a 2200R. I have a flip drive also. Does anyone know if I have to upgrade my pulley on the stock water pump or buy an electric water pump in order to go 10 rib? I understand I need the spacers for my 6/8 rib bracket and tensioner and ect..but what about the water pump? |
10 rib will be fine with the ls1/6 waterpump pulley

I’m being told that a stock ls1/6 waterpump wont work with the 10 rib setup with direct drive on my ls1..that something is gonna overlap or hit. I’m just trying to avoid buying a $800 Meziere model #319S electric water pump.. |
I have a 10 rib a&a bracket and secondary drive with a stock ls1 pump. Only thing I did was tack weld the pulley on it so it wont back off.

stock waterpump here as well with a&a 10 rib bracket and secondary drive, it works perfect

OK I figured out what they were saying. That there won’t be enough overlap on my stock water pump pulley but I think it will be fine because other forum members here are running The same water pump with a 10 rib. Maybe it has something to do with the spacers to make my C5 Ecs bracket work but the start water pop has a big pulley. |
there is plenty of room on an ls1 or ls6 pump... my 10 rib belt is 1 3/8" wide, go to your car and using the side of the belt closest to the engine as a starting point measure 1 3/8" towards the front of the car and see how much more meat you still have on the water pump pulley... all the kits will orient the belt in the same spot since they all use the balancer as a reference point and that stays the same no matter what kit you have
