Classic Corvette thrown from trailer after jackknife crash on I-75!

Looks like someone didn't get to complete the transfer. Nice looking car.....what a shame. Hope it wasn't a CF member!

Happened here in Dayton OH -- He was delivering it to its new owner.................

resdoggie 05-16-2018 07:42 PM

Sux.

Gold Dragon 05-16-2018 09:23 PM

Bummer.Looks like a total loss. Wondering if the new owner had already paid for his car, and was waiting on delivery. Guessing because the troopers stated the car was not secured, insurance will take a pass. No winners here. Sad:(

OLE442 05-16-2018 09:29 PM

Yes indeed, Dayton Ohio.........Sounds like a court case will be coming their way.

oldgto 05-16-2018 09:35 PM

"Witnesses say the truck was speeding, and the trailer began to fish-tail".... not the way to be driving, IF the load is not secured properly.

av81 05-16-2018 10:13 PM

That is sour , I feel for the car

dmaxx3500 05-16-2018 10:21 PM

people try to drive way too fast with trailers

3JsVette 05-16-2018 10:27 PM

I know someone that suffered a similar fate. His '56 Nomad was loaded inside a closed trailer being towed by at the time a new pickup goes off the shoulder on 95. By the time it's over the pickup and trailer are totaled and the Nomad is on it's side in the trailer with about 50K worth of damage. Fortunately no serious injuries and the Nomad was rebuilt to perfection. Stuff happens.

Much less stuff would happen with a little attention to detail and some common sense.
This “accident” was totally avoidable.
I hate seeing stuff like this...

7T1vette 05-17-2018 12:22 AM

I'm hoping the new owner had the good sense to get it insured...or make certain that the driver had insurance on his 'freight'.

The13Bats 05-17-2018 01:12 AM

Get ready for more and more of this,

The internet has guys buying and selling cars across the country now and in that every cletus with a rusty jet ski trailer thinks hes an auto transporter,

Even seasoned transport drivers will tell you that you have to be careful, no half assing it,

mrvette 05-17-2018 10:13 AM

Unsecured load is certainly a problem, BUT the one big thing to watch the HELL out for is make sure the trailer frame is damn near level to the ground, I seen a clown with a jacked up pickup and a concrete mixer damn near kill wife/I on I95 trailer waving back and forth till the hitch broke off, everything went flying just behind us....I not seen him coming we be long dead by now.....

trailer start sashaying back and forth is certain to crash.....

:willy:

Hopefully it didn't belong to a forum member. :(

Rodnok1 05-17-2018 10:56 AM

Was in OT last week... And I'll repeat he should have secured the load properly and not been speeding.. Dumbass hope he gets sued.

dmaxx3500 05-17-2018 01:12 PM

troopers say ''load not secured'',,meaning ''not strapped down'' ?

insurance will still pay out - it was not intentional - insurance pays for accidents and stupidity -

Most likely "Not secured properly. Sure looks like tire straps around the front wheel to me. But if you`re gonna throw 3200 pounds over hard, the straps won`t be enough to hold it, I`m sure.
