Memorial Day Gas Prices

Don't want this to get political... but you can always tell when Memorial Day rolls around... Gas prices start to climb with the Summer driving season. This is what we're paying for gas in San Francisco this week.
What's it going for in your town?

You're $1.01 more than I paid this morning. Had not got gas in a while and was halfway through filling the truck and the mower can when I saw it. Almost had a heart attack, last time I think it was about $2.80 or so.

HOLY CRAPPIN' CRAP !!

I was bitching about $2.65 this morning. :willy: :willy:

HATE to think what CHICKAGO is. $2.86 in the STICKS.
How HIGH is the gas MOMMA? $3 and rising.

warrenmj 05-21-2018 07:26 PM

$2.71 in Colorado Springs, but I’m making a 2 week road trip to the SF and SoCal areas the first week of June. Not looking forward to paying their ridiculous prices:ack:

How can the answer not be political. Crude oil cost the same all over.

Price gouging . Because they can...

Pop Chevy 05-21-2018 08:58 PM

Pa. is $3.19 now. Sorry , but I think the gas companies control the price of gas.

Not all politics. The overhead for a gas station in San Francisco is probably 10 times the cost of operation for say... a station in Elko, NV. Then add in the taxes and Summer blend and it adds up.

GEM '62 05-21-2018 09:13 PM

Paid $2.56 for regular, today.

3JsVette 05-21-2018 09:49 PM

$2.789 in Fords New Jersey at a Speedway station (used to be Hess) and 10 cents a gallon more at the Speedway station in Perth Amboy less than 5 miles away.

They must have just raised it today . I came through Sarver yesterday and it was still $3.09 . Until this week I was going down into Natrona Heights Exxon . They were selling regular for $2.99 and five cents off if you pay cash , so $2.94 .

My guess is half the cost of a gallon of gas in California is taxes.

Hey Ken,

Most of the time I do like living here, but then there are those few crazy items. Taxes, cost of living, politics....politics, and did I say politics?

Unfortunately, no other State holds my Grandkids!

Pat

No. Not even close. Of that $4.27 a gallon I pay for Premium... The State only gets 58.3 cents for taxes. That includes the tax for State road repair and underground tank removal. The Feds get 18.4 cents. for a total of 76.7 cents per gallon.
Here's the breakdown.

In traveling thru Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado I noticed they sell 85 Octane for their cheap price. I have only seen 87, 89, 91 Octane in Calif. That would account for some of the difference.

Just paid for 93 on the edge of Orlando today going to work...3.27. Close to the mouse.

It may not be half, but it’s more than you’re quoting. Your source is dated April 2017, which is before the additional gas tax was enacted in California earlier this year, which was an additional .12 per gallon.
