C7Carbon | C7.R style Wide Body Conversion kit COMMUNITY INPUT WANTED!!
 

Hi Everyone!
Just wanted to say thanks again for your continued support over the years and for entrusting us with your business, we appreciate it very much!

As some of you might know, we have been building wide body kits/body panels for high end exotic cars for quite a few years and have recently been focusing more on building high quality ground effects parts such as front splitters, side skirt sets, rear spoilers, rear diffusers etc.

Today we are excited to announce our interest in building the ultimate wide body kit for the C7: the C7.R style Wide Body Conversion Kit!
Our goal is to bring the Racing essence of the C7.R LM Corvette to the C7 in your garage, with a kit that offers the Racing flare and strong aggressiveness while still keeping your C7 street-able. We would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions as well as any ideas on what wheel/tire setup will suite this kit the best. Let's build this ultimate wide body kit together and make it available for your C7 Corvette! :thumbs:

Absolutely LOVE the renderings pictured. I'm interested to see what you do with the nose (a la ZR1).

personally I think the front flares are way too far away from the fender creases distorting the body lines and the wheel placement. And the front grill looks like it just disappears leaving a strange overhanging piece of bodywork. The opening is so big that there's no fascia - sort of like the "anti-design"

I guess I'd just rather have the fluid graceful lines of the original rather than an aftermarket race car on the street.

There is indeed a market.....just be careful to not price yourselves out of it.

I like Ivan Tampi's wide body. Copy that but 1/5 of the price haha

I'd definitely go for the rear wing.

I'm in. as long as it fits the z51 as well! :D

:iagree: I think that here is your competition. Ivan's design is really nice looking but it is quite pricey.

I agree there is a market but the price point will determine how large that market may be.

I'm happy to see a real front fender (no silly "spats") but the rear diffuser is grotesque, imho. If it--the kit--is really going to be a street-intended conversion it needs far better protection behind the rear tires. I'm not even sure it would pass safety inspection in my state with such a large open area--or so it appears in the rear three-quarters pic. All the best!

This is a great idea but it has to be executed very strategically. Here are a few things that I believe would make this a success in order of importance:

1) PRICE! It has to be priced attractively, not so high that it would rather make sense to upgrade to a Grand Sport. A lot of Stingray owners are looking for ways to do Wide-Bodies at a reasonable cost.
2) DIY Installation - Make it easy to install. The side area (under the door) is attached with glue. Replacing that is NOT a DIY proposition. Make it easy to simply remove and replace the four fenders. If you can create a design that looks good WITHOUT having to replace the rear bumper, it would reduce the cost making it easier to afford.
3) Don't make it too wide like Ivan Tampi. Z06 wide is reasonable enough.
4) Perfect the fitment. Spend time of this. Nothing if more frustrating than bad fitting parts.
5) Try to retain the front and rear bumpers if possible, again to keep the cost reasonable.

If I may make a recommendation, look into what ACS is offering. They offer the oem GM Z06 body panel rear kit with a small piece that lines up with the rear fenders on the side skirts. I don't believe they got it perfect as it looks like a tacked on piece which it is. Maybe focus on getting that piece right.
