Short time to get filled with gas, and the battery goes dead. Not a good sign. OR, maybe the mid engine is an EV and they couldn't find a battery charging station nearby when the battery ran low on charge, and had to use the truck's battery to recharge the EV Corvette's battery.

First world problems,when you have too many high tech gadgets aboard.

I wonder why they are looking in the frunk, when the engine is in the back? OR, maybe we actually have found out some proof positive information about the mid-engine. The battery is in the front of the car(or is it?). No need to have a poll on "Do you think the battery is in the front or in the rear of the C8?" now. Dang it.

That, and the hood looks to open from the front!! Maybe! A ‘twofer’.

Edit: Probably so to more easily load a golf bag over the front facia. Now that would be news.

I realized that the hood would most likely be hinged at the rear the first time I saw the CAD drawing showing the cargo bin located in the very front of the car. That was a couple of months ago, so we don't need another poll on "Do you think the C8's hood open from the front or the rear?".


Link to where GM said the battery is in the front(before this photo was posted)? Or were you just guessing as is most of the C8 information on this section is?

Based on the size other mid engine frunks, and the size of the cargo bin(frunk) seen in the mid engine CAD drawings, I doubt if a golf bag is going to fit. Maybe a coupe of six packs of golf balls and a towel.

Good catch Joe on the battery placement. No need to get testy with me for an educated ‘guess’ as I indicated by a ‘maybe’. And it looks like you also make what appears to be an educated ‘guess’. So where is the CF link to your realization of the front opening hood from the CAD drawing? :flag:

You can clearly see where the frunk will be. At the very front just behind the bumper beam and between the front frame horns and in font of the crossmember.

There is also another CAD drawing that actually shows the carso bin and it's weather stripping, but I'll leave it up to you to find it. It's on this forum.

I saw this CAD drawing long before I saw the photo with the front hood raised.

Now, since this is the only real information we have on the C8 that shows the front of the car's space frame, etc, where does the CAD drawing indicate that the battery is indeed in front.

Oh, and my C6 Z06 has the battery in the rear, but it also has a jumper connection at the fuse box under the {front}hood, to connect jumper cables to start the car in case of a dead battery. Maybe the mid engine Corvette has the same ability to jump the car from under the front hood, even if the battery is in the rear of the car.

We can either have a poll to answer our questions about where the battery is located or we can wait until the car is released and know for sure.

Or he could be holding the hood up with his right hand because the hood's gas springs are not designed to hold up the weight of a heavy tarp, just the weight of a very lightweight hood.

It's also clear that they don't want prying eyes to see anything about the car etc. Otherwise they wouldn't have thrown the tarp over it since they can't actually drive the car down the street with the tarp on. I think that explains why he has the tarp all bunched up around him instead of thrown back to can get better access to under the hood. They don't want anyone to see what is under the hood, or for that fact, they don't want anyone to know what kind of a car it is that is sitting in a gas station having to get a jump start.

Since 1953, on the Corvette, the "conventional way" was to have the hood hinged at the front.

Even non Corvette cars have had the hood hinged at the front in the past. My mother's new 1957 Mercury had the hood hinged at the front as did my 1957 Ford Convertible.
