zevo 3157a LED bulb flashing too fast, what LED bulb works?
 

04 vert a4 ....so my front passenger side DRL/turn signal light stopped working and I took the old bulb out ....I tested it and only the top filament was working but in the car neither the turn signal flasher or the DRL worked? I would have thought one of them would have worked...but any way my replacement Zevo LED 3157a works on both the DRL and the turn signal but it flashes way too fast.....I believe the car still thinks the circuit is open. all the the lights light up

I want to keep heat down with the LED but I am not interested in adding a resistor to the circuit

Who has an off the shelf LED bulb that works..

the harness is super easy in my opinion and you won't have to worry about installing any other leds onto the car

It is not the LEDs fault. All LEDs will hyperflash unless you install a bypass.

Nope. Gotta get the bypass harness. Very easy to do. I did it not too long ago. Gives it a fresh sharp clean look without going overboard.

ok until my home work is done on the hyper flash bypass....I put in an OEM bub and life is good again....I had no luck with going through the brake air duct from the front, and I wasnt sure my hand was going to come once i got it in there. tried three different times and no luck....I went in through the top and it took about 15 minutes until I got the combination of fingers and pushing and twisting....took about 8 minutes to get the new bulb in....kind of like putting headers on a C3.....you dick around with it for long time then all of a sudden its in.

To my knowledge, what you want doesn't exists. The shunt resistors needed to avoid hyperflashing get so hot that they require a built-in heat sink. They should be mounted to a metal frame or something that doesn't get damaged and helps dissipate the created heat.

If shunt resistors were to be incorporated into the bulbs themselves, they would get so hot that they would melt sockets, housings, etc.

The best solution for this is to install a Hyperflash Harness (click here). This harness will fix hyperflashing turn signals when LEDs are installed (although hazards will still do it), while avoiding all the problems associated with the heat created by shunt resistors.

It's completely plug-and-play: no splicing or anything :cheers:

The front OEM bulbs you are referring to have two filaments, as you correctly mentioned:

• One for the DRL/Turn Signal
• One for the Parking Light

The reason the 2 functions you mentioned are not working, even though 1 of the filaments is fine, is because they are handled by the same (broken) filament. The other filament (the good one) is for Parking Lights.

thanks I discovered that today when I tested the bulb before I put it in.....I originally thought the DRl and blinker were the two filaments...I don't think I have ever used the parking lights. thanks bob

You've never used the headlights?

well i guess i should have said i have never purposefully looked at the car with the head lights and parking lights on to wonder what filaments were working . just a quick look over before the annual inspection but nothing that really stuck in my mind.

oh to be old...on my first cars as a young guy i knew every nut and bolt..

yes am thinking of looking for a hyper flash harness and a complete LED bulb set when it comes on sale from one of the vendors.

LOL, they light the same way with the headlights on, just not as bright.

Like you, Bob, I remember some of the older things quite well. I can even spell "Carburetor", and it took me forever to break away from 18436572. :D
Anyhow, I decided I liked the intensity of the LEDs and the added visibility they give the car (tail lights, side markers, etc). So, I added a hyperflash harness. Easy to install and once you have the harness in you are good to go with LEDs wherever you choose. :thumbs:
