LOOKING for best "red color" Spark Plug Cables
Sometime soon, I want to change out my spark plug cables/wires on my stock 1996 LT1 engine. I want to get the best ones available that are a red color to match my car's paint. What do you guys suggest that are great quality, red, and won't interfere with any radio reception? Also what spark plugs would be best for my stock engine?

The msd and Taylor cables are fairly nice in my experience.
That being said stock cables are fine for mild builds even... |
I use Taylor Spiro Pro wires. They are bright red and look really nice when they are clean. Which was basically just when they were new. Lol

msd, love 'em or hate 'em, they do make a nice red wire; be advised they are larger diameter than stock (as I expect other aftermarket wires may be) and don't fit into the stock wire looms.

Just put the MSD wires in my car last week. A bit of a bear to route the wires but NO interference with the radio whatsoever. Also not cheap ($112.95 no matter where you buy them)
but you get your money's worth. https://www.jegs.com/i/MSD-Ignition/121/30479/10002/-1 |
Since you're stock, I recommend AC Delco 748D. A little spendy, but it's the OE part number for the LT4 wires, which were originally red in 1996 only (keep in mind these will NOT have the cylinder numbers on them).

I run MSD 8.5mm

I am happily running taylor spiro pro in red for my LT4. Fits in stock holders. Just make sure you use dielectric grease properly. Don't ask how I know.

I am a fan of the MSD Spiral Pro wires - but as ralfkramden said - they are a real PITA to install - particularly on the driver side where you have to route them behind a lot of things. For stock applications - I'd say they are probably not worth the effort required to install them.
Sorry - no experience with the Taylor wires. |
I've been running the same set of Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm wires for over 10 years without issue.
NGK TR55 is a good economical spark plug. |
Magnecor KV85 here

Msd 8.5mm wires are garbage - spark arcs everywhere. taylor spiro pro is the better product |
Working in a speed shop for years, I've seen everything. I used to reccomend taylors, but ive seen to many that leak spark from the plug boot after a few years. Personally i would recommend the moroso wires. I've had good luck running them long term on a number of customers cars

I have used several sets of the Jegs 8mm red wires, with no issues.
And 1/2 the price of MSD. |
Taylor's were very nice. Perfect fit, well made, and a nice red imo.
