Stock LS3, What's Your Average MPG?

I've got a stock 2012 GS and getting 20.0 average MPG. I know this can vary wildly based on your driving habits and location but what are you getting?

BadAV 06-16-2018 07:46 PM

Most of my driving is relatively short trips in town, with traffic and traffic lights. I average somewhere between 19-20 mpg in these conditions. I have an automatic.

NY09C6 06-16-2018 08:12 PM

18 mpg but I do not drive easy and posted highway speed limits are 70-75 mostly.

techmonkey 06-16-2018 08:37 PM

I daily and my commute is about an hour one way 60/40 highway/city.

Oh Boy 06-16-2018 09:02 PM

To me this is real world city driving at which if anybody claims more than 10-12mpg is total BS.

Stock LS2, A6, most trips are 6 miles and back but some longer, most tanks are right around 20 - 20.5 MPG.

Manual GS, most tanks are 20 - 22 mpg. Can get high 20's if on long trips and keeping speeds lower.

TorchRedFred 06-16-2018 09:37 PM

To be honest, I never looked or cared.

6SpeedTA95 06-16-2018 09:49 PM

I can probably get 19 or 20, I can tell you that the MPG is lower than I expected. It's quite a bit lower than my LS6 car when I had it.

buckmeister2 06-16-2018 10:27 PM

When I am really careful, I might get 18 in all-city driving. But, I love what the car offers, so normally get around 14. It doesn't bother me a bit because I know it is my fault.

Twin6s 06-16-2018 10:29 PM

In the 07 its around 18 in town.
Highway I averaged 27.4 from San Antonio to Joplin Mo. Average speed was 72mph for that trip. lol

PuckDracon 06-16-2018 10:48 PM

My mixed after 7k miles of 50/50 city and highway is 20.6. I drive pretty aggressive, hit bumper to bumper traffic for ~30-45mins daily, and don't monitor or even care about the mpg to be honest.

On the highway it maintains 29-30mpg @ ~80mph on flat roads. Stop and go traffic is a killer though.

Seems like the MPG sweet spot in these cars is at quite a bit higher speed than most vehicles that like 55-60.

techmonkey 06-16-2018 11:33 PM

I don't really care much either just better than expected. I guess the highway miles tend to even out my lack of control (more frequently than I care to admit) and the city driving.

To me, that's not city it's gridlock. In this day we almost need another category for mpg estimates. highway/city/gridlock.

Bruze 06-16-2018 11:45 PM

The gridlock in my neighborhood really sucks . . .

I have put 1,100 miles on my automatic LS3 since buying it last winter. I set the computer to zero and right now my average mpg is 22.9 with mostly highway type mileage. I live in a rural mountainous area with minimal traffic lights.

Ahrmike 06-17-2018 07:47 AM

16 in real traffic, 25+ on non-traffic highways.

ExxWhy 06-17-2018 08:17 AM

I must drive way too easy. My computer says 25.6 avg for the 3500 miles I have owned it. I do live in the country, avoid the city. 09 stick

Atomic Punk 06-17-2018 08:33 AM

16 to 17. and I drive easy and run 100% gas. the real gas nets me about 1 mpg more than ethanol.
