Can a shift knob from a C5 corvette replace a shift knob from a C4? I'm knew here and was advised to ask this question on the C4 forum. Thanks in advance!

no, there aren't the same car

While they are not the same car, the threads are the the same, thus it will bolt on. The difference is that reverse is over and up on a c5 and over and down in a c4, thus if you buy one with a pattern on it, it will be wrong.

Question is, why.. the c5 knob is very similar to a c4 if your talking stock, so why bother and just get a c4 knob. If your talking c6 knob, then that's a different story.

Automatic no. Manual yes. As mentioned shift pattern for reverse is wrong, and the C4 shift pattern will not sit properly in the C5 knob.

Hurst makes (or made, anyway) a very nice shift knob for the C4's ZF6.

You should be able to move the button with the shift pattern over to the C5 one.

9/16-18 is the thread size for c4 and c5 I think.

just in case you find something aftermarket.

the manual shift knobs interchange and I never had an issue with the insert.. both inserts (C4 and C5)are the same size.
