Reverse lights inop

Whilst having my new backup camera installed, they tied the camera power to the circuit that feeds the reverse lights. Problem is that the lights never come on. The fuse is good. So i am wondering about the switch at the top of the driver's side of my 96 ZF6 tranny. Trans was reciently rebuilt. Maybe the switch bacame unplugged? Do these go bad?
where would a guy get one if need be?

Were the lights working prior to the splicing with the camera? If so, your back up module on the trans is good.

My quick guess is that by splicing your back up light with your back up camera you messed up the ground.

When I installed the backup camera in my 95 coupe, I recall splicing the power directly to the backup light feed wire. The negative wire to the camera when to a frame ground, and there was a wire from the radio unit itself that connected to the transmission backup switch line. Your results depend on where and how you spliced.

I am unsure of prior operation status. So now i need to check the switch.

It's very common for these switches to go bad. The replacement switches all seem to have a wire pigtail as opposed to the stock one that's just one solid piece.

Do the easy things first.

Check both bulbs.

There is no power going to the bulbs.

Does the back up camera work?
If it does then need to check where they tied it in and probably did not re-connect wires to lights.
