Will 283 linkages (clutch, oil gauge line) fit a 350?

It looks like the water pump pulley alignment, fuel pump, accelerator linkage, starter, generator alignment etc. would be hard to just bolt on a 350. My 283 is out and would like to replace it with a mild 350. Keep the period correct engine for my son who has the money to eventually restore the whole car. I also like the idea of trying something different. Any suggestions? (Thanks for the help on a previous question regarding my Muncie and BW transmissions.) Thanks 59 Navy

The 265, 283, 302, 305, 305, 327, 350 And 400 SBC all have the same dimensions

I can't think of a thing that is not a direct bolt on swap. I don't remember how the clutch cross shaft attaches to the block (bellhousing?) but I think you'll be okay.

I've done a 350 swap in my 61. Everything should bolt right up. Don't forget to put the spacer between the harmonic balancer and the end of the crankshaft or the pulleys won't line up. Your biggest issue is that the 350 blocks don't have a crankcase vent in the rear of the block so you'll need to use a PCV system or valve covers with vents. Depends how you want to go. You can't use the cast alum Corvette valve covers unless they've been modified. Will need to use an aftermarket air cleaner with the fresh air supply to the valve cover too. If your buying a 350 crate motor or a complete engine it should have the proper intake, valve covers and set up for a PCV system.

Use the harmonic balancer for the 350, not the one for your 283. As previously mentioned, the PCV system has to be installed including a PVC valve / fresh air inlet. Everything else should be a bolt up. CAUTION: the harmonic balancer and flywheel for a 400 cu in is externally balanced, do not use them with a 350.

The 55-62 Corvettes with a manual transmission have the bracket for the clutch cross shaft attached to the bell housing with 2 bolts. The 63-later bell housings do not have provision for attaching the bracket.
