Can someone please do me a favor?
I was a designer on the Corvette. One of the parts I designed was the rear tub for around year 1990. If someone could please find the area on the underside (Under the car) of the tub that has the American flag, I think it said, made is USA and will have the initials KAP and take a picture and post it? These will all be in the same area.
I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Kevin. |
Can you be more specific as to location? Which years?
|
It would have been model year 1990ish. Keep in mind this was designed back in the 1980's so my memory is a little faded.
I remember it was on the tubs/wells that stick down located just rear of the seats. Not sure if it was left or right side. |
The convertible has a few thing molded in that area, an apple pie hot dog and base ball bat ? what ever it was someone will see this and post up.

I recently had the left tub out while replacing the power antenna and saw nothing present on the tub.
That said, though I handled the tub several times and saw both sides I did not specifically look for something to be present. |

Thanks for the replies guys.
I did some looking on line. Memory says it is located at the bottom of these deep tubs. They are on the underside of the car, not from inside the car. |

Right side of my 96 coupe. |

The C4s have factory undercoat on the bottom of the floors and tubs. In 1990 the coverage is typically full, and all the way to the rear of the tubs and floor. The embossing is going to be under this undercoat.

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. It means allot to me.

Thanks again to all who tried to get his for me.

Your welcome Kevin. Did you work at Warren Tech. when this was done? |
I did and still do work at VEC in Warren. Things have changed allot here over the years.
The design work for this was done offsite. I can't remember which building this was done at though. I think it was at one of the Entech buildings on Chicago Rd. in Troy when Entech was around. Memory says it was in or around 1990, so not all C4 coupes have this.

I have this part # in a '90 SPO catalog for a 'coupe only' - #15 in this image.

Woo hoo, a C4 Celebrity!

TBD is Tom Dilworth. He was the engineer on the program.

Cool piece of C4 history!!
|
The 'vert 'rear floor body panel' would have been different so it might be interesting to maybe check a 'vert for information in the same vicinity.

KAP,
Do you have any stories about the design of the c4 you can share? There is a whole new generation of buyers who are fixing them up and refurbing them and we would love to hear stories! For example, how did those hot dogs and apple pies and your flag and initials even get into the molds? Did GM just say "do whatever you want as long as the parts fit"? I'd be so interested in hearing any stories you may have. thanks! VikingTrad3r |
