Looks like all wheel drive

Watched new video c8 at test track. Driver stops and accelerates looks like driver side front tire spins. Take a look.

There you go! ;)

Syncing the electronic motors!?

Can't charge you for this:
I did some reading on building race cars. The idea of light weight needs to be thought about at the concept stage. If you build a car light from the start then aren't carrying the weight and thus can use lighter things.

Smaller front wheels, so they turn more rpm's than the rears, I think it's an illusion. I think it's the base rear drive car.

Possible a small lithium ion batter and a front motor could eventually make awd possible...

doubtful but possible...

give that version to cadillac

I filmed it off the screen with my iphone in slow mo. The wheels are moving at the same rate as far as I can tell.

Trying to get a better view.

Best intel (and it is shaky) is that a Cadillac all electric version could be around a 2023 — but Caddy has much more immediate issues to deal with.

:iagree: If you slow the video down to 25% on YouTube you can see the rear wheels start spinning just an instant before the fronts (the "chirping" of the wheels that you hear from the wheel slip), and while it doesn't definitively prove it's not AWD it does suggest that it is RWD. It's very very close, but worthy of some investigation; GIF below is at 50% speed for reference:

It wasn’t even accelerating fast like other said. No way that is showing it is awd.

For those hoping for AWD, I hope they can swallow the added weight plus the weight of a DCT.

and I really don’t understand the desire for it. McLaren 720s are running on the high 9s in the quarter from the factory showing that the right setup on a RWD/Mid engine car can really work.

This comment caused me to do some research as to the facts. Since the current 7-spd MT and the new DCT are both by Tremec, the job was not too hard.

Current Tremec TR-6070 trans weighs 144 lbs, without a clutch.

New DCT TR-9007 weighs 198 lbs, including clutches.

So, I'd suggest that the difference of 54 lbs with the DCT is probably compensated for by the lack of separate clutch and drive shaft when compared to the current setup.

:iagree:

No need for an AWD Corvette IMHO.
