ZR1 high wing to low conversion - Machine shop request

Hello,

Does anyone have have access to design and fabrication facilities to make a mounting bracket that would convert the high wing to a low wing height?

I looked at the piece Chevrolet uses for the low wing. Unfortunately it would not work with the high wing’s adjustable lower mount point.

This would only be for street and freeway speeds.

Asking for a friend.

**** UPDATE 9/30/18 ****

Just installed lowering brackets from Weapon X. Thank you Ben! This is awesome. The powder coat option was worth the wait!

The clearance with the convertible top cover hatch is fine. I’m not sure if we got lucky or if Ben allowed for this.

With the top up, you really can’t see the wing. With the top down, the wing is not in the way. The Chevrolet high wing car cover fits nicely. I would say it fits better than with the wing in the high position.

For those of you installing, this is a two person job. Also cover the rear side panels adjacent to the trunk with a blanket or similar as you will be pivoting the wing to position it correctly. No point in having the wing sides coming into contact with the paint.

Ben I have an idea for an additional option: Bolts that match the color of the bracket.

Haas he tried to order a pair? May need to give the VIN for a car that has them since GM doesn't want people swapping them. They have to stock them in the event of a rear collision, etc for people that own the Low Wing set-up just like they have to for people who own the High Wing set-up!

I think he wants the big wing but lower. Have you realized that if you lower the big wing it will block your rear view?

same as the low wing other than the bigger side winglets.

Great pictures thanks

i do realize that they are very different but would like to see …

visibility Ty’s is limited either way.

Thanks for for your interest and input

intensifi 07-02-2018 11:55 AM

I stand corrected!

thank you.

That said from the point of view of the driver looking back or in the rear view mirror, I believe they would look pretty much the same other than the winglets.

Got all of your requests. We have them drawn up, 3D printing to test fit on mine for pics, and then will have them water jet and powder coated unless any of you want them raw. I'll have a link on the site by next week.

it would be cool to use 1 mount and elec or hyd move them up/down

oldfoggy 07-04-2018 08:43 PM

I’m a buyer, please let me know

thanks for your Attention to detail. I’m assuming you the solved the upper mount issue and that they’ll be pitched correctly. I’m ready when you are I’m in California and bill me the way you want to. Thanks again for your effort

Innovation ZR1 brackrt

i realize that you have probably already done what you are going to do .…

my my late thought was for you to design your bracket to connect to the existing bracket on the high wing. It seems that it would be the perfect and simplest way to go!

that way all you’d have to is detach the high wing ( with its bracket attached ) install your new brackets and reattach the high wing.

Possibly you could also design the top of your bracket to allow a small amount of “ pitch “ adjustment. Is this too crazy, or possible?

It just seems less intrusive to take the tall wing off at the existing bracket connection than to have to remove the existing bracket from the wing.

You’re smart engineers, this is probably what you planned… I hope so, simple is always best.

This is way all you do is 4 bolts (bracket to wing bracket), then swap the lower (bracket to car) 8 screws. Easy steady!

please let me know .

We're working on this already and will have some info up soon ;)

johnglenntwo 07-05-2018 09:23 PM

Yeah, but still Batmobile style! ;)

Better to save that big boy for the track and simply throw on a $600 fiberglass piece for around town. It's not really going to work anyway right?

oldfoggy 07-05-2018 09:52 PM

Aclaim

thanks for acknowledging my ‘stuff’.
Cant wait to see the new brackets

thanks
