Help!
I am trying to change the gasket on the oil pan of my 84 vette. But the oil pan will not drop out. Its hung up on the back for some reason. Who do I get it to drop??

It's usually the front of the oil pan that hangs up on the crankshaft counterweights. Try rotating the crankshaft to a different position by using the large nut on the harmonic damper. That's easier to do if the spark plugs are removed.

Maybe there's a baffle in the pan that the oil pump pickup gets caught on. I can't remember though.

Thanks guys I got it off, it was just stuck on the old gasket. I was scared to hit it to hard to break it loose but it finally gave. But now I appear to somehow be leaking oil from behind the oil pan somehow. Does anyone know what that could be?

Never mind upon further closer inspection it appears to be trans fluid that's dripping. But I dont know how. I just replaced the trans pan gasket as well

front seal on trans unless you didn't wipe every thing up after changing gasket
