I noticed something on my car today, haven't seen it before. The weatherstrip was folded inside the door. See the two nudges in the strip, thats were it was folded in. I didn't think of taking picture until after i corrected it. I didn't realize perhaps someone tried to get inside my car.

What do you think, has someone tried something here. Its right above the dorrhandle and locking tab inside the car.

What kind of theft defense does a C5 have? I understand specifics isn't allowed to mention here but in general perhaps.

Good chance. I just noticed a circular dent around the perimeter of the drivers side door handle on my wife's Denali, so no doubt the risk is still out there.

If you park it in public places you might want to get a hidden cam.

It doesn't make sense to me why they would pry in the areas shown. If they were to use a Slim Jim, they would go between the weather strip and window not door and weatherstrip.

Maybe tried to reach some cable or something. I know antitheft will disable when doorlock is turned with key but idogt know if its just a mechanical switch or it the lock reads the resistor on the key. If its just a mechanical switch maybe shorting that cable does the trick. im getting so curious now i think i have to look into that.

Next step will be installing a hidden kill switch for ignition i think, just have to sort out what amps runt in that cable so i don't buy a switch that gets on fire.

Or if someone has a resonable explanation to why the weather-strip folded in there. It wasn't easy to pull it right and its a bit of hazel to bend it in. Not something that just happens.

That happens to mine a lot when it's washed and it's hot outside, there isn't any adhesive holding the rubber lip to the door so it can lift easy and it's difficult to put back. You might have moved it when you opened or closed the door. If you want to add a hidden security switch use a SPDT switch with center off and wire it to the key resistor reader wire so that down is normal (wire from car connects to reader), center is off (wire from car is disconnected to reader) and up connects a resistor with the same value as the key in case the reader fails.

I don't think that was the result of someone trying to break into your car. Were there any scratches in that area - like under the rubber molding? I agree with the comment by 3sACROWD.

That is normal wear from the window going up & down. Just keep putting it back to normal. It will happen again.

I have a vert and never lock it. It's insured and easy to replace

This happens all the time with mine. I carefully pry the molding out into it's original position, next day it's back. Was thinking of using super glue but decided against it.

Same with us. Can't keep anyone out of a Vert, maybe stop them from stealing it, that's about it.

It happens when the window is rolled down and you shut the door with your hand on the weatherstripping. It moves easily and if it is warm it will fold over as it slides back. No problem to slide it back out if still warm of hot, little harder if cold. You can do it with your arm out the window on the weather striping. Wife does it all the time. Lots of people don't know how to use a door handle. It's made to move a bit for the seal on the window. Not a place to break into the car.

The door lock doesn't care if the key has a pellet or not. It is purely mechanical. The pellet is for ignition switch only.

Thats a relief, i was worried someone was attempting to steal my car but i realize now its just a feature in the car, making the owner have something to do. :D

happens to me at the autocross , someone leans on the door and moves to weatherstrip in , i carry a rad hose removal tool to roll it back out
