End of a Relationship

I ended my 15-year relationship with my Corvette yesterday. 9146. Those were the total miles driven in the last 15 years. Can we all say garage queen?

But not to fear, I drove it for the last time yesterday morning. Overcast skies and a subtle breeze afforded me opportunity to open up the motor a bit and feel the bite of those new Cooper Cobras on the pavement. Looking thru the windshield with the mountains in view, I reflected on the decade and half of fun I've had with this car. I dated my girlfriend who became my wife. I gave my mother her first and last ride ever in a Corvette. It covered the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia. It was front and center at CF events and carried the CF banner in several run segments as money was being raised for St. Jude. I did the show circuit, parades, prom pictures and wedding events. I embraced the Corvette lifestyle.

I delivered the car and handed the keys over to a Vietnam veteran, a man who was awarded 2 Purple Hearts for wounds he received in battle. His walls were full of commendation medals, pictures of his buddies, friends and family. I was pleased that my car went to an American Hero. I didn't look back with regret as I left his driveway, only ahead to the new memories this car would make for him. So if you see my old L48 in the foothills of NC, wave to my friend Jim and welcome him to the fraternity.

I know you'll miss it, but really glad you found it a good home.

Sorry we didn't get the opportunity to trade t-tops for that iconic photo we wanted. I'll stay in touch and after all, this site is still getting money from me every year. :nopity and cars eventually go on to new owners. Thank you for helping me make the ownership experience better. Stay in touch bro!

Nice write-up on your 77. The 63 88 is looking real good as well. Hubcaps are close but don't look stock. Good to see the Vette go to this Vet.

Good eye on the caps - the original stainless wheel discs are in a box to be restored. These '59 Fiesta knock offs are from Hubcap Mike. For a 1964 Oldsmobile I have few wheels choice in staying with stock but I'm pleased with the look. Nothing rides like this 33,000 mile boat.

You never know, you just might get the Corvette Fever again!
