Computer controlled Distrubitur
76 Corvette, stock dizzy. I've added the QFI 500 TBI, and love the way it runs now, but just curious.
The QFI has the option, and wiring to control the timing. How difficult is it to add the computer controlled Distrubitor, and which should be used? I would think that it would be better control, and adjustability than what's on there now? Options? Opinions? |
Well I guess I'm not the only one that doesn't know. :-)

i did an advanced search in the C3 Tech/Peformance threads for "QFI 500" and came up with a single post, yours. Did you contact QFI for suggestions?

So far, this is the most informative post i've found: https://www.corvetteactioncenter.com...h-advance.html |
I have never heard of QFI, but on the TBI swap i did last year, I used a small cap distributor from a 94 Suburban with a 454. If swapping a distributor, you need to make sure to use the correct cam driven year (steel). I'm guessing your setup would be similar.

Dist from early c-4 TPI engines are computer controlled. I am not familiar with your set up so I can't say if they will play well togeher. I am using a large cap dist on my 1986 L98 transplant into my c3.

It's a pretty slick system, good for up to 525 HP.
https://www.holley.com/products/fuel...rts/QFI-500BDM Probably the best place to get help is the official Holley EFI forums.https://forums.holley.com/forumdispl...13-Holley-EFI& Unless you bought the system from EFISystempro.com then you should just call them; they're great and will answer the phone and talk to you for as long as it takes. As Matt and Canvas guy said. Small cap GM OEM HEI. Apparently when you run them in a boat above 7000, they break up a little. Boats are fun. You can leave them at full throttle til you blow em up... all over ebay 40 bucks. Used OE and new chinese around same price. One of the most common V8 distributors out there, so you know QF is designed to run them. Simple to wire.
