Recommendations for C-5 splash guards

I want to install splash guards on my 2003 to help prevent stone chips.

I do not want to drill any additional holes in the wheel wells, just use the existing fasteners locations.

Not sure if I want black or body color (50th anniversary red).

Any thoughts or advice on a set of 4 which will work?.

Thanks

They also sell extra spring clips

These are much more expensive than the ones mentioned but they are better. They will also paint to factory color :hurray:

These are discreet virtually disappearing on a black car. I take them off when detailing and my only issue are the rear spring clips which can scratch paint finish. However, this is probably my poor install and removal technique. Any tips on my spring clip issue?

These might be the same. I like them. Easy to install and you don't notice them unless you are looking for them,

They certainly appear to be the same as MAM's

I have those on my car and they work very well. And the price is certainly right.

You do not want to paint them body color, as they will stick out like a sore thumb. When black, they will blend in with the tires.
Unless you live in the country, or drive on dirt roads all the time, do you really need them? I don’t have them, and I’m sure my wheels/ tires are larger/ wider than yours with no issues. 3M is your friend! :yesnod:

To me, ‘splash guards’ don’t belong on a sports/ performance car. No one has ever said to me, like your car, but you could make it so much better with some ‘splash guards’...and of course some Caliper Covers.

I agree on the RPI guards. As their ad says they are stealth, you hardly notice them.

If you actually drive your Corvette all over the country and want to protect it from rock chips, then there is nothing wrong with using splash guards. These can be removed easily and in the five years I have owned my Corvette and the hundreds of compliments I have gotten, not once has anyone ever even mentioned the splash guards. If you are afraid that someone might not like them and say something mean to you, then by all means avoid them like the plague.
Despite what some may think, splash guards have no effect on the drivability or fun factor in owning a sports car.

The only ones I've seen that are truly integrated looking, are the C6Z factory splash guards. They take some work to shape them, but are actually attractive.

How about some pics of the Mid America set on your car. It does state "some drilling required" ?

Thanks much!

mrlmd 07-17-2018 04:15 PM

I disagree with Jetz. My rpidesigns are painted silver with Duplicolor vinyl paint and they are an exact match to the car and are unnoticeable until you look for them, blending right in with the body.

There is no drilling required. The website is incorrect. Factory holes on the front with spring clips in rear.

Thanks Jeff for the clarification. Can you attach some close up pictures to see the fitment and appearance?

I just purchased my 2003 last Fall. Only 3,000 miles on it but it had a few stone chips on the rockers and behind the rear wheels. I want to install the splash guards to help prevent any future stone chips and protect the original paint. Ultimately, I'd like to have this NCRS judged in a couple years so I don't want something which requires additional holes on the car.

I understand what you are saying, the splash guards are a temporary protection, not an appearance item.

Thanks for your thoughts, John
