Cant go wrong with either of those top 2. I wanted certain springs, ex valves, and most importantly MS90 guide material...so AHP was my choice.

Nope...not at all. Katech runs OE rockers in their LS7 builds with their 116, 110, and K501 cams.

Hi 73DBG, I plan on doing the work myself (minus the head re-working) as I am a fairly proficient mechanic :-) I do know that I will need to also purchase, oil/coolant/gaskets/head bolts/plugs/wires. Pricing I was looking for was just for the head work. :thumbs:

The DIY write-up here on the forum helped me do my head swap and I have very little mechanical skills as far as engine internals. I took my time and labeled as I took apart, took plenty of pictures and everything went back together quicker then it came apart. If I remember correctly it took me about 6 to 7 hours to button things back up. This is the second summer since my head fix and she is running smooth. I never planned on adding anything extra as I just wanted to fix the heads, but I knew that if there was anytime to add something extra to my LS7 then this would be the time to do it, just something to consider. I went with AHP, but opted to have heads ported, milled and added headers while I had it apart. When I shopped around in my area the basic package 4, head bolt kit, gasket kit with wires/plugs plus labor would have cost me around $3200. I was right at $3600 with package 4 heads plus headers, ported/milled heads, gasket/plug kit, ARP head bolt kit and my own elbow grease. Plus an extra $150 for simple mail order tune, which I plan to have a proper Dyno tune in the future. A good tune is always a good idea if you are looking for more HP, but Kohle said if you just do just the basic package 4 kit, no retuning was required. Just don't forget to keep the lash caps. Long story short for you $1398 package 4 heads, $429 for install kit and around $120 for fluids/filters for just under $2K. I see you are located in CA, so not sure if freight, $150 X 2 for me and core charge, $1000 may apply.

My AI heads before they were ported were $1266.47 (includes valvejob, milling, CHE bronze guides, Manley stainless exhaust valves, new valve seals, shipping and sales tax).

Almost 10 years ago my friend did his heads for about $800. New valves, springs, valve job, and tank. No port work, no milling, nothing but just fixing the issue. Add gaskets/fluids/bolts/etc and it was ~$1000ish. Still going strong to this day.

If you want to mail the heads out, I would just send them to WCCH, get the bare bones basic stuff, no performance work.

Trunions are typically a downgrade and worse than stock, so no reason to waste money unless you like to spend money on less reliable parts. The exception to that is if you own a 07 that had bad factory ones, and in that case just buy a new set of OEM rockers.

Depending though, since the aftermarket heads are ported/etc, and if you add that to the others price becomes a lot closer, but for someone just wanting a basic "fix" there is no need to go crazy and get all the extra HP add ons.

Not to derail the thread, but I have an 07 and just got the heads fixed (AHP awaiting some free time). Are the trunions a preventative thing like the valve guides? I have a set of BTR trunions already, but wondering if I should send them back.

My 07 pissed needle bearings everywhere, didn't tear up the engine luckily. Did CHE bushings and no issues since. Sold the car but new owner has had it over 10k miles later and no problems.

If your 07 is in the affected model range, and hasn't been fixed yet, then yes, swap some new rockers in it.

Advanced Induction offers a "Performance Rebuild" for the LS7 heads. The 260cc package is also a very good value option as it includes intake bowl work and full CNC porting of the exhaust port.
