Cheap tires. Tiger paw vs Hankook

Need tires for my 63. Have 18 year old redlines on it now. Just found a separation in one of them.

I Put 100 miles on this car last year. I plan to sell it when I find a camaro, so dont feel like spending $1000 plus on a new set of redlines.

Amazon has Uniroyal tiger paws (620AB) for $61 each shipped or Hankook Optimo (500AB) for $53 each shipped.

Is anyone using these?

I really like the Tiger Paws. I am going back to original steel wheels and wheelcovers, and am ordering another set for my car. These are 7 years old and still look new. I heard Michelin is discontinuing the Tiger Paw in 2015/75/15 soon, so may have to act fast.

Both will serve you well for street driving under 75mph. Also look into cooper tires. Wal-mart should have good prices on these tires too and will mount and balance them as well

I have checked both of these on Amazon by model name, size and your part numbers ( 620AB and 500AB) and both show no results found. I am an Amazon Prime member and order lot's of stuff on there, so can you help me find what you are finding? How old is your information? Thanks.

620AB and 500AB are not part numbers, they are treadwear and traction/temp ratings.

I have the Uniroyals on my '66. 205/75/15. I like them a lot. They were $300 installed. Not a bad way to go.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...5735743b44.jpg

Beware of the Cooper Trendsetters...I put them on my mother's car several years ago and they deteriorated to a dry-rotted mess in less than 3 years. After two major failures, I threw them away and got Firestones.

"Cheap" doesn't mean bad these days. I regularly race my 67 in auto crosses and buy the lowest price summer max tires I can find on Tire Rack. No sense putting expense tires on a car you're going to sell.

The 2015/75/15 size statement. I guessed 215/75/15 and came up empty. Thanks for clearing things up for me.

GTOguy 07-20-2018 03:57 PM

He could of meant 205/75/15 just as easily...........

SupremeDeluxe 07-20-2018 04:53 PM

SORRY! I meant 205 / 75/ R15

No problem. I tried several iterations of the original numbers. We are all good now and thanks for the heads on these tires. Did you have them mounted and balanced at Walmart or did you buy them through Amazon and take them somewhere to be mounted and balanced?

Thanks again!

Yes I agree...I just put tiger paws on my 67. The Cooper tires I replaced were dated 1991 and long overdue.

I have ‘kooks on my Chevelle, nice tires. Quiet.

Replaced Cokers with Diamond Backs on my 60, really nice, but expensive.

I bought Hankooks for my truck, they were rated at 60k tire wear. Nice tires performance wise but that 60k is a joke! Not even close to the goodyears they replaced.

:iagree:

Hankook on America's Sports Car?

Nothing could say I bought the cheapest crap I could find more than Hankook.

I've had Cooper Trendsetters on my '63 for about 5 years and 3000 miles. They seem to be holding
up well. I haven't checked lately and am not sure they are still available. The white side wall is the closest to original I could find.
