This is not a "everyone gets a prize" competition, and you are certainly not a millennial. :)

And I have yet to see a picture of a date code.

Understood, but I am only interested in tires that are:

1. on the car (one of the four wheel / tire combinations actually on the car
2. the actual spare tire that is intended for use if the car has a flat tire

I did not know you are a Millenial.

I have the original spare and rim under my 63. Looks good and holds air.

I think we're going to see a Jack in the Box pop up when he summarizes all this good info he is getting?

This contest should be null and void. One of the original criteria was oldest spare tire being used...the oldest don't have dates. Ambiguous rules. I want my participation trophy!!!

1976 date coded BFG radial TA's still on the car...I'll have the car at Carlisle this year...doubtful these tires will still be on it though...

Not sure if these tires have a date code. I thought I had the receipt but was for the 64 truck. I do have the receipt for the wheels being painted on 7-1-83 and I remember my brother having the wheels painted when he got new tires. I have two different numbers but nothing where a date code normally is located. If it is a date code, do you get bonus points for having the tire sticker?

Here's one of the 4 Firestone's on my 1915 Ford. The tires date from 1974-75. This car is driven regularly. These are bias belted, made in New Zealand tires, clincher type, which run at 65PSI. They are in excellent condition. Road speeds are typically 30-35 mph, but this car has been clocked at 45 mph. Vehicle weight is approx 1300 pounds.

OK, the numerous recent threads about old / aging tires has prompted me to start this competition.

Who has the oldest tire that is still is use on the car? It is actually one of the four tires touching the road.

Who has the oldest tire that is ACTUALLY being used as a spare tire?

I will come up with a suitable prize for each of these.

You MUST post a picture of the date code of your tire to be considered in the competition.

It does not matter if the tire is bias belt or radial, all that matters is that the tire is actually being used as a road tire or a spare.

OK, show us what you got!

Here is the spare from my newly acquired '64 as I unloaded it back in February. It is a Gates Air-Float Supreme that as best as I have been able to determine was produced in 1965. There is no DOT and I haven't been able to verify the date code, but it was used and is still in my tub when I take the car out for spins through the neighborhood.

What's the latest on this contest? Has a winner been selected?

No winners yet, but plenty of potential losers. I really hope some of you guys are not actually thinking of using these death traps.

Seriously, I was just curious about who had the oldest tires actually ON their car.

I think it's me. 43 year old tires on the car and driving. Living the dream!

I smell a double-cross.

I will buy old bias ply death traps. Contact me PM through this forum.

I tried to buy Pedro's old tires but he wouldn't have that on his conscience and he cut big holes in them. Nothing like being firm in your convictions.:D:lurk:

I may be confused here about Pedro's tires. It might have been Dr. Chucks old bias ply but the shipping was way too much from Florida.

Didn't know when I'd be back in that god forsaken state so I passed and I think he set a bon fire with them?
