HELP!! 2015 Z06 LZ3 or 2019 Grand Sport LT2?

I am a new member. I joined after reading several of the threads on this forum. I really am trying to decide between a 2015 z06 LZ3 with 2,000 Miles (perfect condition $108k sticker) or ordering a 2019 Grand Sport LT2. The cost is the same.
I may go to a track a few times & I do enjoy a good challenging drive through the Ozarks or Smokies, but a comfortable ride for long trips is important. I have read that the z06 is basically a track car. ?
I understand it is a beast that deserves respect. I have owned several 500 HP cars, so I get it.
I have no idea how much the Corvettes have changed from 2015 to 2019. It looks like 17,18 & 19 are very similar. ?
The bottom line is that for years I have dreamed of owning a z06, but something tells me that having a Grand Sport with more current technology & a warranty might be a good option. Please share your experience. Thankz for your time, demp

My vote's for a 2019 ZO6, 2LZ. I'd never buy a look-alike fast poser, when I can buy an actual fast ZO6! All day, ZO6! :)

My vote would go for the car you're dreaming for: Z06.

Too much $ to compromise, get what you really want. Any C7 is fine for a "decent ride"

The only real change in technology between the 15 and the 19 is Car Play. If it were me I would get the Z06 if the 2k miles were not track miles.

Financially it’s probably the wiser decision to go with the Z06 since it’s already through the majority of its big depreciation curve. Not that it’ll stop, this isn’t a collector rare car but you won’t lose as much money if you wanna off load it in a few years. Plus 2,000 miles is hardly broken in. I’d buy it!

Since you’ve reamt about the Z06 and want it bad, I have a feeling with the GS you’ll either end up with buyers remorse, which is terrible at this price, or end up taking a bath in 2 years if you decide you want the Z06.

Almost no changes. Tech is all he same. You do get a updated display screen. If you’ve been dreaming Z06 and are used to high HP cars go Z06. If you actually want to track, I’d stay away from auto in both. Pre-17 Z06 can have overheating issues at hot weather tracks. For two days a year probably not a problem. Have fun picking! BTW, I have seen a brand new base 1LZ Z06 sold by from forum dealers for as low as 69k.

The 2015 Z06 one great car - has overheating issues
Z06 all the way - just a newer year where this issue has been corrected

Thanks for your feedback. Where can I find forum dealers?

Welcome. I bought the 19 Grand Sport 2lt. I’m 61 and I totaled my A&A supercharged Vette 5 years ago. I honestly don’t want the H/P anymore. My 19 is so damn quick stock that any more power would require that I make no mistakes. I choose not to live like that. My supercharged car was insane. Steer with the rear. I just don’t want to ever wreck another car again. At least not by my own mistakes with the throttle. The new Z06 is insane. That’s my take....

Another vote for the GS, I had a 15 Stingray Z51 prior to my 17 GS. My take is that the wider tires and the upgraded suspension with the 460 HP motor gives you much more confidence to use the power of the car on a more frequent basis. My rear tires would last a lot longer on the Z51, but with the increased grip I feel much more confident driving aggressively than I ever did with my Z51, hence faster wearing rears :-)

The increased power of the Z06 on the similar chassis would for me at least, again shift the balance towards me being more cautious due to the explosive amount of power available. It truly depends how you drive, if you like to drive very aggressively without being afraid that the car will get out from under you I would go for the GS, otherwise go for the Z06.

The beauty of the current C7 line is the awesome number choices we all have. Stingray, Stingray Z51, GS, Z06 and ZR1, a C7 for everyone's tastes and preferences. I guarantee you'll love the platform no matter which way you'll go and I for one would definitely not be judging you for which ever way you decide to go. Good luck!!

By the way, I drove my 19 GS earlier today. I had a car in front of me that was doing whatever so I went around him. I stood on the gas. The car was not quite straight. It downshifted into 2nd and off I went. Straight as an arrow. No tire spin. No rear end misbehaving. As I was accelerating, I was thinking damn. This car is really quick. That’s what I want. A fast safe car that won’t bite me in the ass. It’s a bitchen car. You would not be disappointed. Good luck brother.....

a 2015 Z06 with the low miles you mention would be eligible for the GM Certiified Pre-Owned Vehicle warranty program. that would provide a 1 year bumper to bumper warranty, free maintenance, and the 6 year 100K powertrain warranty. AND the option to trade-in for another car if you don't like the one you bought. So the question to the dealer should be, "why isn't this (2015 Z06) offered as a CPO vehicle?

With the CPO warranty coverage, the prices the same, the question becomes how much slower do you want to go than what your money is capable of buying?

Without a CPO warranty, I wouldn't touch a used corvette sold by a Chevrolet dealer. The dealer knows something about the used car that he isn't telling, but is preventing him from making it a CPO vehicle.

Z06 2015 model year and negotiate it to include the cost of a gmepp

460 hp is cool but 650 hp is available so that’s what I’d go for.

ymmv

Gotta go for the Z06 no point in just having the look without the beast under the hood. Nothing like that torque and power of the Z06.
