Looking at this, apart from the obvious things of interest, I must say that you are a better man than I... to be installing the engine with the entirety of your car totally unprotected. :yesnod:
|
What am I looking at, other than the anxiety from having the entire motor pulled and worrying not everything goes back exactly the same. I always wondered, how do you know where to route all the piping/electrical cables after you pull the motor? Service manual?

Very nice but wheres the nudity :(

I have since car covered the car, no worries lol. The key to making sure everything goes back the same way is being meticulous and documenting every bolt along the way. Then its easy.. Aye.... easy there killer.. I said engine nudity. Theres plenty above to go around bud.. like that last pic where the “Block on Blocks bares it all..” LOL |

I needed to tap the pan for the YSI oil return line. So I took the pan off. When it was off I found two piston oil squirter nozzles broken off and sitting in the pan. The VR pistons apparently require the nozzles be “massaged” but there is no mention of it anywhere and when I called VR they said they never have to move them at all. Since i’m in here, I figure I will do rods and lower the compression so I can turn up the boost.. As for squirters i did bring this up in your previous POST >>> https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1595966778 Didnt know they would break. Maybe add it to your HOWTO.. i just used a 17mm open wrench to give them a little bit of love |
Bad ass. I love a good DIY thread. Good luck!

Which pistons and rods are you doing now ? or is it just rods... more boost is always fun :) I wanna take mine out and do new cam/rods/pistons.

I am planning to sell the VR dropin pistons and rods (possibly the current crank as well) if anyone is interested. Already have the new cam here as well as a new set of Comp Cams 850 lifters. Wil be ordering some gaskets and such today. Will be doing cam bearings this time around as well.

Like that idea for bolt origination. I got me lots of 1 gallon and quart zip lock slider backs and magic marker. Those bolts that placement doesn't matter. Like the way you think!

Don’t jump to conclusions, I’m pretty sure it makes for a better pic without the covers or plastic wrap. Once the wrenching is done and the engine is out who needs covers :) I will also add that not everyone constantly fumbles tools or parts :) |

Do the LT Motors have the same rocker arm setup as the LS series motors? An if so are you going to be doing a trunnion upgrade or is it already done and if so which route did you go Bronze style bushings or needle bushings?
