Ball joint help

Replacing all bushings up front, taking out the ball joints too. I noticed they're held in with rivets, no problem to get them out but worried about putting them back in. I'm usually okay replacing rivets with bolts, but worried they would back out, even with thread locker, since they move so much. Thinking about getting a rivet gun. Advice?

Replacement ball joints will come with the required bolts. You can add some loctite if you want (I usually do) and don't worry about them backing off, thousands of them out there

:iagree:

Probably more of them out there with bolts than rivets by now. You can get replacement rivets but they’re iron rather than aluminum. Not at all easy to flatten out.

you can use bolts with rivet heads,so you get the easy install and the right looks

Bolt torque 25 ft-lbs.

Nylocks might let you sleep better?

I never worried about the bolts myself. Nuts and bolts are by far the most common service practice with bazillions of cars out there. The whole rest of the car is bolted together. Even the suspension arms the ball joints are riveted to.
