Converted my all black interior to mod red
I recently ordered some new seat covers so I decided I wanted to spice up the interior a little. I always loved a red on red convertible so I thought I would try and get close to that look. I wanted to leave some black as the dash and console are black so I ordered the black/red combo from Ridies. Very good quality and easy to install. I think I need to tighten it up a bit more to pull everything smooth. I was given a new torch red carpet for free thanks to another local forum member and I just bought a really nice set of door panels off of ebay. I'm still debating on the glove box and knee bolster. I repainted some tan door sills and pillar trim torch red and sealed them with a clear coat. I might do the same with my dash pieces unless I can find the red ones at a reasonable price. I sold all of my black pieces and that helped pay for some of my new interior so that helped cut my cost down. I like the way it turned out, might be too red for others but that's why we have apples and oranges I guess.

Looks good!! I changed all mine out. My Silver Z had black leather. My doors are coming from Apsis this week. I think the torch red looks better in my Z that’s why I did it. Did you have the Red speaker grills or did you paint them. You cannot find them so I got a extra set of black ones to try and paint them torch Red. If they don’t come out good I will use my black grills. |
I like it the way it is now. I think if you do anymore it will be too much. Nice mod. |
I think it looks very good and as you said, with some adjustment on the seat covers, will be just right. Nice job. |
Looks real good to me too.

Funny seeing your yellow coupe, I had a MY ZO6 with the mod red interior which was my inspiration for this conversion.

Thanks for your order. They look really nice. Yes, just tight them some more and then leave them out in the sun. After couple of days of usage the wrinkles will go away.

I checked out Apsis and they have some nice products. I wanted to try and make it look more factory than custom so I went this route. My speaker covers came with the door panels in red so no painting needed. I do know Duplicolor HP-100 is a very good match to torch red and its under $9 a can up here.

Your setup came out nicely and is just right. The black helps to break up the red carpet. I personally think all red is too much.

I'm all for throwing a "little hot rod red in there" (Nerds will get that)
Looks Good. |

where can you buy that paint? I will search for it. That is the same can I just bought from amazon. I hope it matches up. Thanks. |
My old 87 had a red interior and I bought a 94 with black and never really grew on me. When I was looking for a Z06 I had to have a ModRed interior, it’s a great color on my QS Z06 |
I'm an all black guy. Many moons ago I worked for Ford in Europe. When Ford brought Lotus's Colin Chapman in to turn one of their sedans into a potential race winner, one of the first things he did was reworked the interior to get rid of any chrome, or anything that could reflect or distract the driver. I owned one of those cars, and have been an "all black " enthusiast ever since.
