Eventually my wife noticed that the scenery was going by very quickly and she asked me to slow down :)

Has anyone else with a grey (any version) C7 noticed that on a bright sunny day with the right colored road the front of the car just reflects the road and sky and seems to disappear ? I've tried to get a picture of the effect but have never been successful.

What are the posted speed limits out there?

Weren't they briefly one of the "safe & prudent" speed limit states, or was that just Montana?

I had a grey Thunderbird that did precisely that. You could not readily tell where the road ended and the hood began. The slope of the hood was just right. It was a bit disconcerting at first until I got used to it.

IIRC, the posted limit was either 70 or 75 MPH.

I was traveling at a reasonable and prudent speed for the conditions and the type of vehicle I was driving ;)

Great picture. The last time we were up that way driving on Hwy 2 north of I-94 we only saw one farm truck for miles & miles. Absolutely beautiful country.

Reasonable and prudent was in Montana but Wyoming (I used to live there) had the 75 MPH limit but I have been told the interstates are now 80. Have not been back to see that. . yet. 2 lane roads would be 65 MPH. In the 70s and 80s during the winter it was not uncommon to travel I-90 from Sheridan 150 miles to Casper and only see 6 to 10 cars during the trip. The two lanes would not be that crowded most of the time.

I grew up thinking that if you could see several cars on the highway at one time the traffic was heavy.

I'm headed up to Deadwood for a week here real soon for the Western Scenic Tour. Will be taking in all the sights around the Black Hills!

I'm from just across the river in NJ.
The changes once you get into the mid west are dramatic.
From the east coast to Chicago I spent almost $200 in tolls and way too much time in traffic especially around Chicago.
Once into Wisconsin, no more tolls and wide open roads all the way out to Wyoming.
Even more dramatic when you consider that NJ has something like 22 people per square mile and wyoming has only 9 per square mile. And no tolls!

I live in Montana where there are only 6.6 people per square mile and I love it that way. Plenty of room. Roads like the OP posted are abundant here and the "man" sightings are infrequent as a result. It's the main reason I got a Corvette. Only problem is it has to go into hibernation around Thanksgiving. Driving a car like this in Chicago ( lived there too) and most of the east coast would just be plain frustrating to me. The "no limit speed limit thing was here from 1995 to 1999. During those years if the weather was good you could do what ever you wanted. Just imagine that for a minute.

East Coast and tolls. I remember them. Haven't paid a toll since I left NJ in '88....

Meantime, damn traffic in California!
