I forgot how nice it was......

..to just drive. This past weekend I want on a road trip to Southern VT with the GS. No particular destination in mind, just to explore the great roads in the area. After over 1,200 mi on all kinds of roads in sun/rain the car needs a good cleaning but performed like a champ.

The top of Okemo Mountian.

End of the road.

The C6 can even handle dirt roads.

Back home and ready for a good cleaning.

Hey bud, howalya? Long time!

Yup it's nice country up there, even better after the leaves turn. :D

always glad to see people get and not just drive these beasts, but really get out and drive 'em.
I think nothing of a Saturday or sunday drive of 200 - 400+ miles. with no reason then to just get out.
my go to burger place, is a 70 mile drive. my personal best is 1,100 miles in one day ( as part of 9 day 6k mile kamikaze run )!
I also don't mind getting it dirty, kind like a badge of honor.
looks like a nice drive on your side of the country too.

Hey Bruze, how are the bartenders treating you ?
I have been so busy lately I have not had time to post much.
VT is great, but it was chilly (low 40s at night) already up there.

Sounds like a great road trip. Some of the best road trips I've taken have been those without a specific destination, just out exploring.

On my way home I decided to take only local roads until I got back to NJ. No interstates, parkways, etc. If a road looked promising I took it. That probably added hundreds of miles to the trip, but was well worth it.

Ha, barmaids are doing the usual.

I would do tacos tonight (beautiful day here) but I just got home from hernia surgery, not supposed to drive or drink. http://i44.tinypic.com/x0y1pt.gif

Pain hasn't really started yet, still under anesthesia.

Did you take the wife with you?

while I do have a few roads I frequent, I'm also looking for some nice backroads. the farther off the beaten path, the better.
living in California does offer quite a range too. ocean, mountain, wine country, desert. it's all good and their all day trips too!

I did the PCH years ago, but the traffic spoiled most of the fun. On this trip I looked at the map and any road that was "squiggly" made the cut.

I hope you have a speedy recovery, if it makes you feel any better Mrs Patsgarage is making tacos right now.
No wife on this trip, she would not have liked my driving. :hide:
I went with two of my brothers and my cousin.

yea, I tend to stay away from the touristy routes. nice as they are, unless you get them early, you end up as part of the train.
no map or GPS, and usually no idea of where I'm going ( kind of like my life in general I guess ). occasionally i'll hit a boring route, but it's still an adventure.

I'll bet Mrs. Patsgarage gets a lot of funny looks when she signs her name. ;)

Nice pik! I wonder who had the coolest car? http://i63.tinypic.com/1z15l53.gif

PRNDL 09-13-2018 09:56 PM

Couple of VW GTIs and is the second car in the left a Focus ST? Bought my oldest a GTI and my youngest a ST. Both very fun and practical cars.

Glad y'all had fun. I enjoy getting "lost" on back roads.

On the lot at Sam Pierce Chevrolet in Dalesville, Indiana before I bought it.

Good eye.
Both my brothers had an ST, but one was totaled in an accident. Everybody was OK and he got good money from the insurance company, so it was not all that bad. I am trying to convince him to buy a RS, but he does not have a secure place to park it.
I really like both cars, the ST has enough power to be fun, and the handling is very predictable. The GTI could use a little more HP and the car feels tail happy to me, but the fit/finish and attention to detail are great.
