Whoops! Is this new LS9 head gasket done?
Not sure if it came like this or I did it. Had it on the block and was putting in studs. Realized I had wrong studs and pulled off gasket to put away and saw it. I'm thinking it's done. Opinions? I've already got one in a shopping cart online ready to go. It's going on a supercharged motor.

I wouldn't use them. Too much work to get back at them.

If it just compressed like that from something sitting on it then I would probably be okay with it. If it were scratched that's an altogether different story. Then I would scrap it. As compressed as they're going to get I would suspect it would be fine. Not sure what they cost I guess I would use that as my barometer for how worried it would make me. Looks to me though like something was sitting on it and just deformed it a little bit.

Nothing was placed onto the gasket. It was just sitting on top of the block while I put in head studs. I remember looking them over when I got them now and they were fine, I must have scratched them on something. It's 60 bucks for a new gasket so I guess I'll get another one. Sucks but I'll be way careful putting them on now.

Copper spray them and go for it (can’t wait for the comments) |

Looks okay... if your paying for the labour, get new ones...
Then again, how deep is the scratch? Does your finger nail get caught on it when you drag it across? |
$60 would be worth the peace of mind to me, I'd rather eat that than have to do the work all over again

It's a head gasket. A head gasket. Not something you want any risk in. If in doubt, throw it out.
|
Ya it's gonna be replaced. Still don't know how I did it. I wasn't even drinking beer.
