3/31/2019 end of C7 ZR1?
Is the end of C7 ZR1 on 3/31/2019 confirmed or just a speculation?
|
That will be the end of the 2019 model year according to GM sources. No one is certain how long the production will run however it is likely into 2020-2021 as other indications show the C7 will run that long. |
Saw an article saying C8 production to start in September 2019... if the C7 is over and the c8 begins in September they would need several months to switch over I would assume? So maybe?

As I understand it, ZR1 parts were sourced for a 3 year production run.
I'm a year 3 buyer @ 20% off MSRP. |
Thank you to put me at ease. Some posts on another thread made it sound like the end was near... Long live the king (or until the next king) :)

The truth is...no one knows for sure. Many are going off of past occurances which is understandable.

I can't help but to believe when the C8 goes into production the C7 is over. I think it would be wishful thinking to think they will keep producing the C7 they have never kept an older version when they have a new one, sorry guys it depreciates my 2 also but such is the way its done!!!

Is March the end of the C7 ZR1?
I have heard talk that March is the end of the C7 ZR1and probably the C7 period. Everything points that way, no more allocations, as of now can dealers order a C7 after March? Is this why the 2019 model came so fast? The C8 is it coming in Sept. 2019? as a 2020 model it sure all adds up. What does the forum think? If this is the case, those that have gotten a ZR1 and those with a allocation and build week what will it do for these cars will they hold there value well?

BLUF, no one truly knows if there will be multiple years. It is true that dealers are not able to order past March. There has been rumors that C7 production will end August of 2019 and C8 will be on the market in September 2019. Not to mention museum tours will open back up in January of 2019 which leaves many people believing that the C8 will be unveiled at the LA Auto Show in November or Detroit Auto Show in January. That makes sense that tours would begin again during that time if C8 is already revealed...no need to hide anything any longer after that point. I believe ZR1 will be a one year run. At the most, and this is a stretch, they could continue an abbreviated run of it from March - August 2019. This is all conjecture..but fun to think of the possibilities. This will undoubtedly over time cause the ZR1 to hold its value as being a one year run.

I doubt they developed and certified a new engine to only produce it for one year.

Nah, that went on for another MY or two in one of the Camaros, if I'm not mistaken.

I don't see the C7 & C8 being built at the same time. |

If I were in GM's position, I would build the 2019 C7 until the end of March 2019, then do a short 5 month production run of 2020 C7's to make them rare, with the shutdown at the end of August and C8's being delivered in January 2020 as 2021 models. With a longer than average 1st year C8 run (say through March 15, 2021), the first year of C8 sales will be a guaranteed success.
I don't see the C7 & C8 being built at the same time. All that being said, I hope I am wrong and you are right. Would make my ZR1 a lot more desirable down the road. |
