Look at the Stance on This One

https://www.mecum.com/lots/CH1018-33...e-convertible/

The stance, front bumper alignment, hood shim issues are not in this cars favor, but all some folks will see is a low sale price or no sale, and conclude the value of all C2s is on the decline. A good car is hard to find - there's lots of pigs with a fresh coat of lipstick out there.

Agreed!!!!!!

blue67ragtop 10-11-2018 12:47 PM

Yes it has some issues,

Frankie the Fink 10-11-2018 01:12 PM

But -hey it’s from a “private” collection. So it has to be nice ? Right?

Rich Yanulis 10-11-2018 01:16 PM

Private Collection AND Numbers Matching!

How could you possibly go wrong.........

firstgear 10-11-2018 01:20 PM

Nothing there that can’t be fixed properly....not sure what the big deal is....

Depends on what it sells for. Everything can be a good buy if the price is right. Hopefully the dazzle of a Mecum auction doesn't entice a poor swimmer into the deep end of the pool.

I had to do a double take - did a search of 63-67 vettes coming up in Chicago - what are the chances of two nearly identical yellow cars appearing in the same auction? Wonder which one will bring the higher bids....

Or someone who sees the same things you see and checks the other important things like frame and birdcage on this car and buys it cheap and fixes these items and ends up with a nice driver!! Someone like Frankie who loves to tinker and is really good at it would have these items fixed in a couple days!

Yeah that's a fun and easy weekend of work to adjust the bumpers and grille, and lower the stance. Maybe the uninitiated won't bid, thereby resulting in a lower hammer price, but someone just might get themselves a great car for an under-market price.

The two cars look a little different....one's bumpers are sagging in a different direction that the other. Different tires too?

Damn right. I mean, you wouldn't buy one from a public collection, right?

(What the heck does that even mean? I guess if I've got more than one car I have a "collection" right?)

Have to agree with firstgear.

phil2302 10-12-2018 05:29 PM

I've owned worse.

SW Vette 10-12-2018 05:42 PM

My point was not how difficult it would be to correct the various problems the car has. We all know what needs to be done. The point is that this jacked up Bubbamobile is not well presented, will probably not get bid higher than mid forties, and some folks might consider that an indication that C2 prices are tanking.

Jesus.

All that rust and barnincles on the exhaust manifolds are weighing it down in the front!

Pictures almost always make a car look better than it is. If you see issues in pictures, it’s usually the tip of the iceberg.

A "jacked up" rear end was all the rage decades ago.
Guilty as charged !

I think it looks pretty nice, nothing that would scare me off, & I would look forward to spending a few hours tinkering with my new toy, fine tuning these things.

I do agree, that had the seller addressed these issues, we may have had a posting titled: "Check out this nice C2 going Saturday at Mecum" and a whole different set of postings with less criticism of these minor issues.

Shackles? .. I remember a bud who had these on his '54 Chevy back in the day. They were so long the rear end would sway in turns. .. He thought it was cool. The rest of us would laugh seeing this:D
