lt1 flexplate into gen 1 sbc small diameter crank?

Hi

I have a chevy 350 Goodwrench motor. It has 2 piece rear main seal but small diameter cranckshaft flange. My question is: what flexplate do I have to get? Internal balance or external?

I have a flexplate from a corvette lt1 1994, It has the same pattern, will be ok?

thanks

I think you need to reexamine what you've got. If you have a "small diameter" flange (and your '94 plate fits it) then you have a 1 piece RMS....and you need a "1 piece Flex plate" that would also have a balance weight on it.

If you truely have a two piece RMS....then you definitely have the older, larger flywheel flange and you need the old style flex plate that is neutral balanced, as the "balance weight" is part of the crank flange.

I agree

….. There are adapters that convert one-piece main seals to two-piece but the crank is still a one piece … check with the seller of the crate engine … the flywheel flange on a 1pc is round … 2pc has a flange with a variety of shapes but it is definitely NOT round …..

There are 2 different flex plates for GEN 1. Do you know the p/n of the engine.

No an LT1 flexplate/flywheel is for external balance engine.

LT1 is nuetral balanced on front of crank shaft and externally balance on rear.
