First C4
 

Hey all,
just bought my first corvette, 1984 being blessed with the crossfire. i have been doing a little research on ditching that and going with a good set of heads and cam and fuel system. i have looked into the trick flow top end packages and like what they have to offer. i am also wanting to run the holley sniper kit. so i guess my questions are as follows. what intake manifold is going to fit under the hood of the c4 when the cross fire is tossed out. has anyone done anything similar to this, i have read a few posts on the carb swap. i like the idea of not tinkering around with a carb all that often is why i want the sniper kit. the car has just over 80k on it so im ok with spending a good bit on it to make it a decent street car. any and all input will be welcome. i will be doing all the work myself also i have built a few motors in my time. its not that i hate the crossfire but i know there is alot better options without going with an ls swap. i dont want to bolt on that crazy xram intake and not be happy with the car after all the work. so the crossfire is going away. ill add the car is an automatic as most are and i know to run the sniper i need a min of 11 inch of vacuum at idle? again thanks for any input here.

My first question: Where are you located? Is the car required to meet any smog regulations? Okay, I'm sorry. That's two questions.

I wouldn't put too much money into an L83 long block, I'd look for a low mileage vortec 350 to start your build.

no but i got a very good price on the car and to be honest 205 hp is LAME

I own a 84 crossfire runs fine with 70k no troubles at all. but I just drive it I don't race and don't go over 80 lol

welcome to the corvette experience and the C-4 forum. I thin I would put better exhaust ab\nd such on b4 changing the cross over. u will need to do that anyway if u pland for more rower.

ya it seems to run fine but i have had camaros and mustangs that would mop up this vette. its not going to be a daily

Thanks and ya i plan a full exhaust and headers. it must have some exhaust work done its kind of loud, i havent had a chance to put it on the lift yet to see whats under it yet

Not sure about the sniper thingy, but the '84 we did required a hood mod to clear the air filter with any manifold that is practical.

There are several people on this forum that have made the CrossFire run very well, myself included! Do some searching and educate yourself on the CrossFire before you give up on it! You can have a surprisingly good running 'vette! My '84 has only 240,000 miles on it, and the throttle bodies have never been removed from the manifold top plate, and the balancing adjustments are still welded from the factory! How's that for reliability?

I don't have any drag strip data, but I can easily spin my rear tires if I'm not careful. And I still easily meet California smog requirements!

A Weiand Team G should fit, its a small single plane. Think 7530 without the raised plenum is the one you want.
They make good torque, top end and are made in USA still far as I know. .
