For the GTO owners/lovers

Saw this beauty in the Lowe's parking lot a few weeks ago. Love the license plate and frame both!

Nice car. The 65 GTO was always one of my favorites. Loved the interior with the round gages, wood grain, chrome work and the angled seat upholstery pattern.

:iagree: I've always liked that the 65 was a little smaller than the 66/67 . The one in the picture is a 64. A little plain for me . Didn't like the body style as much as the 65.

The white car is a 64 kind of rare since few 2 door sedans were produced. I think the post sedans were early GTOs in 64 only. I also prefer the 65 which was just a little sharper cleaner lines versus 64. The 66 GTO was a whole new body.

I love the 66 GTO because of the coke bottle rear end.

In 66 GTO came into it's own. 64 and 65 were Tempest Lemans with GTO option.

This is my "faked GTO" as FTF likes to say pulling in to Cruising The Coast 2 weeks ago. It's a 66 Lemans with an LS1, 4L60e, Vintage Air but has all of the factory ac ducting in side, Dakota Digital dash, 4 wheel discs. Since I knew I was doing this there is no reason to go with or cut up an original car. I also removed the rear 18" of the car and switched to 67 tail lights that I like much better.

Pontiac made the GTO in 65 as a sedan or post car. I had one with a black exterior and a white interior as my first car. I had a 389 in it. My buddy had a 66 that we put in an LS6 engine into it. The engine new cost about $1,200. The car was a beast. The swap was easy as all the A body cars could swap engines with different engine mounts and headers. I really like that 64. Jerry

66 is my favorite GTO. I went to look at a 67 Chevelle SS a few years ago for my son and the guy had a 66 GTO convertible with an LS motor and 6sp trans from a newer GTO. Stunning black with a white top and white interior. A perfect 10!

All early GTO's were great cars. Love the license plate frame. I have 6-T-4 on my vette.

Any regrets?

The GTO Option, (option 382) was a $296 dollar upgrade on the LeMans in 1964. It was available at the same time all the other LeMans and Tempests were: September 1963. GTO's were not inroduced 'late' in the model year like the Mustang was. I like all the early GTO's, and have had my '65 since 1982 (an original tripower/4sp car, now NOM), and my '67 ragtop since 1983. It's a base model car but a great cruiser.

This was my 65 GTO that I gave to my son last April and my 70 GTO Vert that I gave to my daughter a week ago. They now reside in North Carolina and Delaware respectively. Photos uploaded in wrong order.

67 is my favorite GTO.

My boss’s wife had one when I was a grocery-bagger. She wore really short skirts which I “appreciated” when loading up her purchases.

That may have prejudiced me I think.

I worked at an EXXON station in high school, 67 -69. I used to race the other guy to the pumps when a good looker came in for gas. That windshield got a really good cleaning. Mini skirts were one of mankind's great inventions.
