what's she worth - 2008 corvette 427 limited edition z06
 

Came across a one owner Limited Edition z06, it has 7k miles. Sits on original tires and not quite sure on servicing over the years. Valves have not been addressed.

What would be a fair price for such beast?

This is a WAG so take it with a grain of salt.
1. It will need new tires.
2. It will need the valve issue addressed.
3. If serviced regularly? No penalty
So, all that considered, if it were me, I would pay no more than $20K and probably less. I would start the discussion at $15K

Hmm, well I think that might be a little low on price. But maybe not......I would sure check it out quite a bit though before buying it.

20k for a Z with 7000 miles? Someone is smoking dope.
My have to take it with a grain of crack to believe that.

$2000 for new tires, $5000-$7000 To have the heads rebuilt to start.

LOL, this makes me even more confused! I was thinking low 30's as a starting point is somewhat fair if it all checks out.

Mid $30's based on what I got my '08 Z for last spring. 18k miles, heads not done, but second set of tires.

You're not starting a whole lot at low 30s. You're going to get ignored for an unreasonably low offer.

What would you think is a reasonable starting point?

Personally, I like to ask sellers what they're asking. He will probably say 40 to 45, you say I'd want to do 36, you hem and haw for a bit and end up in the middle at 38 to 40 and get a good deal.

Or the guy says 55 and you thank him for his time.

This sounds about right to me. He seems to want 45k OBO, but is open to offers.

Honestly, I'd just save all the hassle and tell him straight "we can waste time negotiating, or we can just agree on 40k and sell this car".

Yeah the 15 to 20 was a bit of a joke. 35 might be a little low as a starting point but it's a little closer to realistic.
I would probably try 38 and use some decent reasoning about it's older, other sales of cars that are newer as examples, Etc. But you need to do a little research first so you can look the person in the eye and not be laughed at. The numbers have to be realistic.

I don't think you have to worry about paying anything with those numbers. The discussion would end before it even started. :rofl:

I agree. $45k with the heads done, serviced, and new tires is an ok deal for you if it is exactly what you want and plant to keep it.
Otherwise, the tires are going to be $2k (RFT's, align, balance), the heads a couple grand (?), the service (coolant, trans, rear, clutch) another grand so that drops it down to $40.
Next is some "travellin money" for you to get all this done so drop another $2k.
Like Fauee, I don't care to negotiate so I would tell him what needs to be done and offer $43 and seller does them or $38 and you do them.

Bingo! Stole my answer! He most assuredly will not want to do the work, then you get the lower price and know that whatever works is done is to your satisfaction.
