Don’t get me wrong, I love the look of my C7 rear lights, but I hope for something different on the ME aka C8? :flag: My crude attempt. :hide: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...f588cd4f0.jpeg EDIT: Odds of this happening? Maybe 50/50. My guess. |
The round tail lights look dated by 20 years or more. Theyre toast.

The probability of round tail lights on the C8 is the same probability of popup headlights making a comeback.

This looks too much like a C7. But I would not rule out quad round led lights similarly framed like we see in that spy rear facia leak pic. It would be a significant move foreword from stand alone quad rear lights like the C6 but incorporate a similar framed outline as the C7 wrapped around the sides to incorporate rear side red markers. Thus heritage and a new look. What is the obsession with circular shaped tail lights? I just don't get it!!

Good point ltomn. I thought we beat that subject to death when the C7 came out, but guess some want to keep re-visting it some more. Along with carburetors in the new Corvettes, round tail lights are extinct. |
Not about to ruffle feathers or anything but these are my observations...
The taillights were probably the only bold design change of the C7. It's literally exactly what you'd expect. As was the c4-c6 design. Nothing you wouldn't expect it to look like. C4 was the departure from tradition, the C5 was the rounded over C4, the C6 was the equivalent of the late C3 redesign and the. The C7 did exactly what the C4 did in history. So the C8 should be the rounded out C7 if the trend is consistent, save the midengine layout. So yes, it should look too much like the C7. |

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...5741dde089.jpg Loved my 08. But unless im looking for a reference to a C6 or round taillights i never even pull up old pics of it. Hoping the C8 does the same to my C7 when i own one. But you cannot deny the old look of the above compared to the below. I mean it looks decades older not a couple years imo https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...466b1ff3a3.jpg |
One day the round tail lights and even pop up lights will return
|
i hope the C8 gets as far away from the C7 tail lights as possible. I skipped the C7 generation and the tailights are one of the many reasons I choose to never own one. We all have our opinion. Maybe it will be the same story I heard from chevy when they stated only 2 parts were shared C6 to C7. In this case I hope the C7 to C8 share zero parts. I dont care if the C8's led's are not round in that odd shaped opening I can see on the C8R camo shots, as long as they do not resemble C7s. We'll find out soon, and if I dont like it I'll buy something else :D

Looks like you'll be buying something else.
They'll resemble the C7 much more so than the C6 or any other Corvette generation. |

There are two reasons I don't own a C7. The tail lights (thus the rear end) is hideous (looks like it was a scrapped design from a child's' transformer toy) and the flags; they look like the screaming chicken from the hood of a Trans-Am.
Call me crazy but round lights have worked for Ferrari design from the get go. I'm sure they could have adopted something from a toysRus product but didn't. |
